Things to see and do in Cape Verde
Activity fans will love the water sports from windsurfing, kite-surfing, and scuba diving to surfing and sailing. Not forgetting horse-riding along beaches, quad biking, and ATV adventures.
Catch sight of dolphins in the waves, turtles nesting in the sand, and over 150 bird species. The waters off Boa Vista’s capital Sal Rei are the best place for spotting humpback whales in Spring.
Visit Sal’s salt mines to soak and float in the salt ponds or get up close to nature at Pachamama Eco Park. Go trekking on the island of Fogo towards the active Pico do Fogo volcano.
The islands are also famous for their annual carnivals - including the São Vicente Carnival in February/March, Santa Isabel in July and the Santa Maria music festival in September.
