Lighthouses
Michigan’s lakeshore sentinels each have their own unique look and story
Michigan can claim many things and one of those is that, with around 130, it is the state with the most lighthouses. Along its 3,200 miles of shoreline, they are worth a visit. Many are open for tours and others are home to bed and breakfast lodging or museums. Fine examples are Mission Point in Traverse City built in 1870, where you can climb the tower or browse the museum, or the Big Red in Holland, which is best viewed from the State Park.
