This month, we’ve caught up with Kelly, and she’s here to tell you all about her tips and tricks as a first-time tourer in the Moroccan desert. Because who said touring had to start somewhere simple?

Q1: Have you been on a tour before? If so, which one?
Yes, I travelled with G Adventures on their Moroccan Sahara Discovery tour, and it completely changed the way I look at travel. Although it’s the only touring holiday I’ve experienced so far, it was one of the most memorable trips I’ve ever taken.
The journey combined culture, breathtaking scenery, and authentic local experiences all in one. From exploring bustling cities and mountain landscapes to spending nights in the desert, every day felt different and exciting. And what I loved most was how effortless the experience felt with everything being organised for us.

Q2: How would you describe the tour in one word?
Unforgetable.
We travelled through the stunning Atlas Mountains and visited the famous film studios before continuing into the Sahara Desert, where we stayed in a traditional desert camp. Spending two nights in basic accommodation beneath the stars was such a unique and unforgettable experience; it truly captured the magic of Morocco. During the trip, we explored the dunes by 4x4 and stargazed with the group on our final night in the desert. Watching shooting stars light up the sky in complete silence was one of those rare travel moments I’ll never forget.
Q3: What touring destination would you recommend and why?
I would highly recommend South Africa, especially paired with a beach stay afterwards. It’s the perfect combination of adventure and relaxation.
Experiencing African wildlife on safari is something truly special. The early-morning game drives, incredible scenery, and the chance to see animals in their natural habitat make it unforgettable. Following that with a few days by the beach allows you to slow down, recharge, and reflect on the experience, giving you the best of both worlds in one trip.
Q4: What’s your dream tour and why?
My dream tour would be any experience that includes visiting Machu Picchu. I would love the opportunity to hike up to it and experience that incredible first glimpse in person.
I’m particularly drawn to the Newmarket Holidays Land of the Incas with the Amazon and Lima tour because it combines iconic sights, adventure, and cultural discovery all in one itinerary. Exploring ancient history while also experiencing the Amazon would make it a truly once-in-a-lifetime trip.

Q5: What’s your top tip for someone going on a touring holiday?
Packing cubes are an absolute game-changer, especially for touring holidays. They help keep your suitcase organised, make it much easier to find what you need without unpacking everything, and maximise luggage space, which is ideal when moving between destinations regularly.
Q6: Why should customers consider a touring holiday?
I would recommend a touring holiday because there’s genuinely something to suit every type of traveller and every budget. Touring holidays take away the stress of organising everything yourself while still delivering meaningful and immersive travel experiences.
They allow customers to see more destinations in one trip, travel with expert guides, and discover places they may not feel confident visiting independently.
