About this tour
Begin your journey in Cusco, and settle into the altitude before meeting your group and exploring this historic Andean city.
Travel into the Sacred Valley, visiting traditional weaving communities supported by local initiatives and stopping for lunch at a community restaurant. Continue to Ollantaytambo, where you can explore ancient Inca ruins or wander the cobbled streets before preparing for your trek.
Your third day marks the start of the legendary Inca Trail. Begin your hike from Km 82, gradually ascending through valleys, rivers and ancient archaeological sites as you make your way into the Andes.
Trek over progressively steeper terrain on your way to Warmiwañusca (Dead Woman’s Pass), the highest point of the trek at 4,198m, before descending to your mountain campsite for well-earned rest and relaxation.
Cross two more passes and ruins on today’s trek. The first pass is Runquraqay at 3,950m where, on a clear day, hikers can catch a glimpse of the snow-capped Cordillera Vilcabamba. Continue through the cloud forest on a gentle climb to the second pass of the day, Phuyupatamarca, walking through original Incan constructions before reaching your final campsite near Wiñay Wayna.
Set off before dawn to reach the Sun Gate and witness your first unforgettable view of Machu Picchu at sunrise. Enjoy a guided tour of the ancient citadel before returning by train to Cusco.
