In a joint effort six of the Hays Travel branches from around the North East got involved in the Trekking for Charlie event, in support of the Charlie Cookson Foundation.
Charlie’s story is an incredible example of courage and while it has a tragic ending, an incredible support network was born. The Charlie Cookson Foundation (CCF) provides financial support to parents of seriously ill children with life limiting conditions that require 24 hour nursing care or specialist nursing facilities. Understanding how difficult life can become, the foundation can help, up to a period of three months, with anything from payments or mortgage, rent, bills to basic daily goods.
To raise money and awareness of this great cause, members of the South Shields, Jarrow, Middlesbrough, Seaham, Jesmond & Metrocentre branches walked 14 miles from Sunderland’s Stadium of Light to St. James Park in Newcastle. This was a challenging activity however, knowing it was for a good cause made it a pleasure to take part in it.
Engagement with customers was great and the team had a lot of support from them, their families and friends. A massive well done to everyone involved!
We have also taken part in McMillan coffee morning in September raising £820.00 for this great cause.
