Travel south from the Costa Blanca, and you'll arrive on the Costa Calida - the 'Warm Coast' of Spain, which lives up to its name with an average of 320 days of sunshine each year! Here, located on a strip of land between the Mar Menor, Europe's largest salt water lagoon, and the Mediterranean is the exclusive resort of La Manga. Catering for holidaymakers with a taste for the finer things in life as well as those that just want to lay back on the beach and soak up the sun, holidays to upmarket La Manga really are something special - they're perfect for couples that want an unforgettable beach break, although there's plenty for families and groups of friends to do here too.
With three world-class golf courses, a glamorous casino and a hillside dotted with luxury villas and hotels, plus an array of fine restaurants to tempt even the most discerning foodies, La Manga holidays are popular with those who want a different class of Spanish getaway. You'll have lots to entertain you, from watersports on the beautiful turquoise lagoon to designer shopping and a glittering nightlife, but if all you wish to do is sunbathe, you'll be thrilled to know that the Costa Calida benefits from its very own micro-climate due to its southeast-facing location - so even in the winter you can look forward to mild days and sunshine, and take a dip in the mineral-rich waters of the Mar Menor which seldom falls below 20°C.
Should you wish to explore beyond La Manga, take a trip to Murcia to visit the museums, see the 19th century architecture, or take a nourishing dip in the famous mud baths at San Pedro del Pinatar Salinas Park which is home to flocks of pink flamingoes! Alicante is around 1.5 hours away by car too, so you can see even more of what the stunning Costa Calida has to offer on a holiday in La Manga.
