Tanzania Holidays
Tanzania is a bucket-list safari holiday where the Great Migration thunders across the Serengeti, Kilimanjaro rises above the plains and the white sands of Zanzibar wait to welcome you home.
There's nowhere on earth quite like it. On a Tanzania safari holiday you'll watch lions, elephants and wildebeest move across some of the greatest wildlife stages in the world, then swap the bush for the beach on the spice island of Zanzibar. It's two unforgettable holidays in one.
As the UK's largest independent travel agent, we're not tied to one airline, lodge or resort - so your holiday to Tanzania is built around you by real people, not an algorithm. Whether it's a first safari for the family, a once-in-a-lifetime honeymoon or a luxury twin-centre with Zanzibar, pop into your local branch and we'll plan every mile. Nobody offers you more.

The Serengeti & the Great Migration
This is the Africa of your imagination - endless golden plains, big cats on the prowl and, if you time it right, over a million wildebeest and zebra on the move. The Great Migration isn't a single event but a year-round journey: calving on the southern short-grass plains around January and February, and the dramatic Mara river crossings roughly July to October. Rise before dawn for a game drive, or drift silently above it all on a hot-air balloon safari as the sun comes up. Wherever the herds are, we'll put you in the right camp at the right time - just leave the planning to us.
Ngorongoro Crater
Descend into the world's largest intact volcanic caldera and you enter a natural amphitheatre teeming with life. The crater floor is home to lions, elephants, hippos, flamingos and some of your best chances in Tanzania of spotting the elusive black rhino - all ringed by towering 600-metre walls. It's one of the most wildlife-dense places on the planet and a highlight of any northern-circuit safari. Pair it with Serengeti and Tarangire for the full picture, and let one of our experts build the route.
Climb Mount Kilimanjaro
Africa's highest mountain, and the tallest free-standing peak in the world, rises to 5,895 metres above the plains. Reaching the summit is a genuine once-in-a-lifetime achievement - and you don't need technical climbing skills, just good preparation, the right route and time to acclimatise. Trekkers pass through rainforest, moorland and alpine desert before the final push to Uhuru Peak at sunrise. Even if you're not climbing, Kilimanjaro's snow-capped silhouette is the backdrop to many a safari photo. Talk to us about the best trekking routes and the ideal time to go.
Tarangire & Lake Manyara
Two of the northern circuit's quieter gems. Tarangire is famous for its giant baobab trees and vast elephant herds - one of the best places in the country to see them up close - while Lake Manyara is known for its flocks of pink flamingos and, in a good year, tree-climbing lions. Together they add real variety to a safari beyond the headline parks. Keen to go further off the beaten track? Ask us about the wild, remote south at Ruaha and Nyerere (formerly Selous).
Zanzibar - Stone Town & the beaches
After the dust of the bush, there's no better reward than Zanzibar. Wander the maze of Stone Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its carved doors, spice markets and layers of Swahili, Arab and Indian history. Then head for the coast: the powder-white sands and turquoise water of Nungwi and Kendwa in the north, or the laid-back east coast. Snorkel and dive vibrant coral reefs, take a spice tour, or simply watch the dhows sail by at sunset. It's the beach half of the perfect Tanzania and Zanzibar holiday.
How many days do you need in Tanzania
Our experts' rule of thumb:
7 nights - a focused northern-circuit safari (Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire)
10-14 nights - the classic safari and Zanzibar twin-centre, our most popular combination
14+ nights - add a Kilimanjaro trek, the remote southern parks, or extra beach time
The right length depends on the season, the migration and how much beach you'd like at the end. Tell us your dates and we'll shape the perfect trip. Enquire now and one of our Tanzania experts will take it from there.

FAQs: Planning your Tanzania Holidays
A yellow fever certificate is only required if you're arriving from - or have transited - a country with a yellow fever risk, so a long connection through somewhere like Kenya or Ethiopia can change this. It's not required for a direct arrival from the UK. Check with your GP or a travel clinic well ahead, and see the latest NHS and GOV.UK health advice.
Tanzania requires visitors to the mainland and Zanzibar to buy a government inbound travel insurance policy, which you can purchase online or on arrival. This is separate from - and not a replacement for - your own comprehensive travel insurance, which we'd always recommend. Ask us about cover when you book.
The dry season, June to October, is prime time for game viewing and the Mara river crossings of the Great Migration. January and February bring the calving season on the southern Serengeti plains. March to May sees the long rains - lush, quieter and often cheaper, though some tracks get tricky. We'll match your dates to what you most want to see.
A twin-centre is the classic way to do it: a few nights on safari in the northern parks, then a short flight to Zanzibar for the beach. It's our most popular Tanzania itinerary, usually 10-14 nights, and gives you the thrill of the bush and the relaxation of the coast in one trip.
Absolutely. Many lodges and camps welcome families, with child-friendly game drives and guides who bring the wildlife to life for younger explorers, and Zanzibar's calm, shallow beaches are ideal for little ones. Some camps have minimum age limits, so let us steer you to the right ones for family holidays in Tanzania.
The local currency is the Tanzanian shilling, but US dollars are widely accepted for park fees, lodges and tips - bring newer, undamaged notes. Card payments work in cities and larger hotels but are patchy in the bush, so carry some cash for smaller purchases and gratuities.
It depends on the season, the lodges and whether you add Zanzibar or Kilimanjaro - safari is a premium experience, but there's a wide range from comfortable to ultra-luxury. As the UK's largest independent travel agent, we're not tied to one supplier, so we'll find the best value package holiday to Tanzania for your budget. Pop into your local branch for a quote.
