Yorkshire travel agents host mystery coach trip to raise money for hospice

13/10/2026

A group of Huddersfield travel agents have organised a mystery coach trip to raise money for their local hospice.

The team from Hays Travel on King Street took over 40 guests on a trip to a secret destination for the day, with funds from ticket sales going to Kirkwood Hospice.

Hays Travel staff attended the trip, entertaining the passengers on route with a raffle and quiz, which provided hints to their secret destination.

The group then enjoyed a day out in Chester – their mystery destination – before heading home at the end of the day.

The event raised more than £400 for Kirkwood Hospice, where they provide specialist palliative care for the terminally ill in Kirklees.

The trip was a huge success, and the feedback from our customers was overwhelmingly positive

Travel consultant, Harry Tallett, said: “Supporting our chosen charity, Kirkwood Hospice, is something we are truly passionate about as a branch, and it was wonderful to see so many of our customers sharing that same commitment through our mystery trip.

“In partnership with Yorkshire Rose Coaches, we enjoyed a fantastic day out in Chester, with lots of fun games and activities on board to keep everyone entertained throughout the journey.

“The trip was a huge success, and the feedback from our customers was overwhelmingly positive, with the glorious weather making the day even more special.

“Following such a successful event, we're excited to start planning future trips, hopefully including a summer mystery trip and a festive Christmas markets outing next year.”

Hays Travel is the UK’s largest independent travel agent, with branches across the UK – all committed to supporting their customers and the local communities they serve.

Each Hays Travel branch is provided with a £500 budget to use for fundraising and charity work in their local area; £200 of this is to be used to fundraise for charities which support young people’s mental health, and the other £300 can be used for charities chosen by the branch.

In the last year, Hays Travel’s Local Community Partnership initiative across its retail network has donated almost £170,000 to local charities.
