A Thirsk travel agent has raised more than £400 for a local hospice with a fundraising skydive.

Gabby Bober, from Hays Travel on Market Place in Thirsk, took part in the skydive at Sky-High Skydiving in Durham on 2 August to raise money for Herriot Hospice, a charity caring for people living with terminal illness and bereavement across Hambleton and Richmondshire.

Gabby said: “I completed a skydive from 14,000 feet, and what an incredible experience it was!

“It was equal parts exciting, nerve-wracking, and unforgettable. Jumping out of the plane was something I'll never forget, and the views were absolutely amazing.

“A huge thank you to everyone who supported me and donated. Your generosity means so much, and every penny raised is going to Herriot Hospice, a charity that provides incredible care and support to people living with terminal illness and their families when they need it most.”

Hays Travel is the UK’s largest independent travel agent, with branches across the UK – all committed to supporting their customers and the local communities they serve.

Each Hays Travel branch is provided with a £500 budget to use for fundraising and charity work in their local area; £200 of this is to be used to fundraise for charities which support young people’s mental health, and the other £300 can be used for charities chosen by the branch.

In the last year, Hays Travel’s Local Community Partnership initiative across its retail network has donated almost £170,000 to local charities.
