Royal Caribbean is opening up a new season of European adventures aboard Freedom of the Seas, with sailings from just two nights up to nine. So whether you fancy a quick change of scenery or a little longer to get lost somewhere new, there’s a route with your name on it.
And while the destinations might be the reason you step aboard, Freedom of the Seas makes a pretty compelling case for enjoying the journey, too.
Meet Freedom of the Seas
Think of Freedom of the Seas as a holiday with a little more going on. After a day exploring ashore, you can come back to a ship packed with ways to spend your evening, or simply make a day at sea part of the adventure.
Feeling brave? Race down The Perfect Storm waterslides or take on the FlowRider® surf simulator. There’s also glow-in-the-dark laser tag, an ice-skating rink and a rock-climbing wall, while younger cruisers have their own dedicated spaces through Adventure Ocean®.
Then there’s the quieter side of ship life. Take a dip, settle into the adults-only Solarium or find a spot to watch the sea go by before dinner. You could even squeeze in a little pickleball if sitting still isn’t quite your style.
Come hungry, stay for dinner
One of the best things about a cruise is that deciding where to eat can become part of the holiday itself. On Freedom of the Seas, you can keep things casual with Mexican favourites at El Loco Fresh®, grab a slice at Sorrento’s or settle in for Italian dishes at Giovanni’s℠ Italian Kitchen. For something a little different, Izumi Hibachi & Sushi brings sushi and tableside teppanyaki to the menu.
And when dinner is done, there’s no need to call it a night. Head to The Lime and Coconut® for cocktails and sea views, challenge your travelling companions at Playmakers℠ Sports Bar & Arcade, or find live music and entertainment around the ship.
A summer of European escapes
The real beauty of the 2028 programme is the variety. One sailing might have you wandering through Spain and Portugal, while another takes in the coast of France. Fancy something cooler? Norwegian Fjords itineraries bring dramatic landscapes and picture-worthy scenery, while Northern City Escapes offer a different kind of European adventure.
There are also sailings calling at Hamburg and Rotterdam, giving you the chance to pair time on the water with two very different city experiences.
Spain & Portugal
Swap the everyday for Iberian sunshine, with opportunities to explore destinations such as Vigo and Lisbon. Think lively streets, local flavours and plenty to discover before heading back to the ship. Some itineraries also include La Coruña, adding another Spanish stop to the mix.
Spain & France
Fancy a little more variety? Sail towards Spain and France, with itineraries that can combine Spanish ports such as Vigo and La Coruña with Le Havre, your gateway to Paris. It’s a route that makes the most of having both city and coastal adventures within reach.
Norwegian Fjords
Then there are the fjords. Expect towering landscapes, peaceful waterways and the kind of views that make you forget to check your phone. Royal Caribbean’s Northern Europe itineraries include destinations such as Stavanger, Olden, Bergen and Haugesund, depending on the sailing.
