A group of Hempstead Valley travel agents who organised a quiz night have raised more than £577 for a children’s cancer charity.

The team from Hays Travel on Hempstead Valley Drive entertained more than 50 guests at the event at Hempstead Village Hall, where they enjoyed a quiz and lots of games.

All funds went to My Shining Star, a children's cancer charity that supports families across the UK who are going through the trauma of childhood cancer.

Hays Travel Hempstead Valley assistant manager, Caroline Mauritis-Wood, was ‘Quiz Miss’ for the night.

She said: “It was such a fun evening with everyone saying that they had the best time and can’t wait until the next one!

“We held it in a lovely little hall in Hempstead and raised £577.30 on the night – all for a really good local community cause that our customers are keen to support.

“I can’t wait to start planning for next year!”

Hays Travel is the UK’s largest independent travel agent, with branches across the UK – all committed to supporting their customers and the local communities they serve. 

Each Hays Travel branch is provided with a £500 budget to use for fundraising and charity work in their local area; £200 of this is to be used to fundraise for charities which support young people’s mental health, and the other £300 can be used for charities chosen by the branch.

In the last year, Hays Travel’s Local Community Partnership initiative across its retail network has donated almost £170,000 to local charities.
