Exploring Taghazout Bay in Morocco

Date Posted: 27/03/2023

Rebecca from our Product Marketing team was recently lucky enough to enjoy a trip to Agadir in Morocco, courtesy of the Moroccan National Tourist Office. Let's find out what she got up to on her trip...

We stayed at the luxurious 5* Fairmont Taghazout Bay, the perfect place to kick back and relax. I was truly in my element in this hotel. The rooms were very spacious and modern with an amazing terrace looking right onto the beachfront.

While in Morocco I attended the 2nd UK/Morocco Tourism Summit, where I learned about the plans for the future of Morocco tourism, we heard from our supplier partners and industry leading experts and discussed how they are planning on building new hotels and new roads to allow tourists to get around the area faster. There was a focus on sustainability, as Morocco is a leader in the fight against climate change and are always looking at ways to help the environment.

On the trip we enjoyed a visit to the Argan Museum, which was an amazing experience! We learned how argan trees are planted, how they help both the environment and economy. We were also shown how women in rural villages extract the argan oil in comparison to how they now do it with machines. After this we were able to plant an argan tree, I loved this because it meant I was helping towards the Moroccon environment and economy, plus the tree was named after me – which was a bonus! One day I’d love to go back and see my tree fully grown!

Seeing Taghazout Bay first hand will help me in my role with putting the correct product out to our customers, as I now know which hotels are relevant for which customer type, I would now know where to recommend for customers to go visit (the town of Taghazout Bay, Argan Museum etc).

I would recommend Taghazout Bay for both couples and families, it’s somewhere you could go for 4 nights or 2 weeks, there is a great selection of hotels from All Inclusive options to room only where you can head out and enjoy the local cuisine, so there’s something for everyone! The resort is also popular for surfing and golfing if that’s what you’re interested in or even if you want to try something different! Morocco enjoys year round sunshine with 330 days of sun, I visited in March which was glorious sunshine and the suncream was definitely needed! Morocco enjoys short haul benefits with a flight time of only 4 hours but with a long haul experience!
