A group of Alexandria travel agents have raised more than £1,000 for a cancer charity after taking part in the Glasgow Kiltwalk.
The four-strong team from Hays Travel on Main Street trekked the 14.6 miles from Clydebank to beautiful Balloch, Loch Lomond, raising a whopping £1,020 for Beatson Cancer Charity.
Beatson Cancer Charity is a Glasgow-based charity providing a comprehensive range of wellbeing and specialist services to people living with cancer, all delivered by charity staff and volunteers.
The annual Kiltwalk is the world’s largest, and this year saw the streets of Glasgow and West Scotland turn a sea of tartan as 20,000 people took part.
The event has so far raised £4.3 million for 1,111 different Scottish charities.
Hays Travel Alexandria branch manager, Angela Booth, said: “We completed the Kiltwalk last year and wanted to do it again but for the Beatson Cancer Charity this time.
“We are the same as a lot of people, we have been affected by cancer in our own families, so we felt passionate about the cause and know how much good work Beatson do.
The atmosphere at the start in Clydebank was fun with a pipe band sending us off on our way
“This year the weather was kinder to us and the atmosphere at the start in Clydebank was fun with a pipe band sending us off on our way.”
Fiona Gillespie, corporate fundraiser at Beatson Cancer Charity, said: “Thank you to an outstanding team of walkers whose dedication and generosity through the Kiltwalk has helped support Beatson Cancer Charity.
“Every step you took is helping bring hope to people and families when they need it most.”
