Queensland Coastal Road Trip

Collect your campervan in the morning and begin your coastal journey north to Noosa. Discover the lush trails of Noosa National Park, where you may spot koalas in the wild, or unwind at Main Beach with its golden sands and inviting waters. Explore the Noosa River by kayak or paddleboard for a peaceful start to your journey.

As you drive north, make your way to Hervey Bay, famous for its seasonal whale-watching tours. If your trip coincides with whale season (July to November), it’s the perfect opportunity to see humpback whales up close. Alternatively, Hervey Bay is a great base to visit K'gari (Fraser Island), the world’s largest sand island, known for its rainforest, crystal-clear lakes, and expansive beaches.

A longer drive today, but worth it! Known as the gateway to the Whitsundays, Airlie Beach is a tropical paradise. Set aside time for a day trip to the famous Whitehaven Beach with its pure silica sands or enjoy sailing around the Whitsunday Islands for a day of adventure.

In Townsville, you’ll find the perfect balance of city life and natural wonders. Spend a day on Magnetic Island, where you can hike through scenic trails or snorkel in the clear waters. Explore Castle Hill for panoramic views of the city or take a relaxing stroll along the Strand.

Surrounded by tropical rainforests and the Great Barrier Reef, Mission Beach is a nature lover’s paradise. Relax on palm-fringed beaches, take a boat trip to Dunk Island for birdwatching and rainforest walks or even try skydiving for a truly epic view.

Your Queensland road trip concludes in Cairns, the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef and Daintree Rainforest.
