A group of Motherwell travel agents have raised more than £1,800 for a Spina Bifida charity after organising a ladies' afternoon tea.

The event, organised by the team at Hays Travel Motherwell, was held at the Best Western Moorings hotel and raised a whopping £1,800 for Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland.

More than 50 guests were treated to an indulgent afternoon tea, along with a raffle and some games.

Hays Travel Motherwell assistant manager, Nicole Carroll, said: “We chose this charity as it’s very close to my family.

"My husband has Spina Bifida, and his mum has been actively involved with the charity for over 30 years.

"It was also important to us to support an organisation that does so much for families and creates a real sense of community and support.”

Each Hays Travel branch is provided with a £500 budget to use for fundraising and charity work in their local area; £200 of this is to be used to fundraise for charities which support young people’s mental health, the rest can be used for other charities chosen by the branch.

Andrew Flynn, of Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland, said: “A heartfelt thank you to the amazing team at Hays Travel Motherwell for hosting a beautiful ladies' afternoon tea at the Moorings Hotel.

"We’re so grateful for your kindness, generosity, and incredible support. The event was a complete sell-out!”

In the last year, Hays Travel’s Local Community Partnership initiative across its retail network has donated more than £177,000 to local charities.
