Touring Holiday of Atlantic Canada with Alisoun
01/09/2025
Don’t just take our word for it that Canada is the destination of dreams, some of our team have experienced the country for themselves – including Alisoun Kaya – Hays Travel Perth’s Assistant Manager!
MEET ALISOUN!
My trip with First Class Holidays took me on a CanadaFest to Atlantic Canada for five days to explore New Brunswick’s Moncton, Newfoundland’s Saint John, Nova Scotia’s Halifax, and beyond with countless memorable moments along the way. From discovering thrilling Indigenous culture and must-see sights to tasting delicious food and wine; I truly immersed myself in everything Canada has to offer and can’t wait to share some of the highlights with you!

ITINERARY HIGHLIGHTS

DAYS ONE AND TWO: MONCTON, NEW BRUNSWICK
My trip began with two nights at Canvas Moncton Tapestry Collection by Hilton located in the sweet town of Moncton – a great base for everything that was planned during our stay. After a leisurely evening and a good night’s sleep; the following day started with a Heritage Path Tour, spiritual Smudging Ceremony, and Bannock Bread with Maple Syrup tasting at Elsipogtig Mi'qmak Cultural Centre to introduce us to Mi’qmak culture. Before learning how to make soap at Savonnerie Olivier Soapery and stopping at the warmest sea north of the Carolinas at La Dune de Bouctouche.
Shediac - Canada's famous lobster town - led to a delicious Lobster Roll for lunch...and I obviously had to wear my lobster pink jumper for the occasion! Then one for the wine lovers! We spent the evening at the stunning Magnetic Hill Winery; this place was my favourite!! It's a family run business which has taken them years of restoration and perfecting their produce. We enjoyed many wines throughout the evening and had a five-course meal created by chef Jason Gallant - check out his Instagram and TikTok Hub City Foodies! They even let us do a bit of grape stomping!

DAY THREE: NEW BRUNSWICK TO SAINT JOHN
The journey to Newfoundland opened up the chance to visit a few unique sights and attractions enroute. At Hopewell Rocks Provincial Park - we descended down 99 stairs to explore the ocean floor before the tides came in, then we had a bit of fun and adventure trying out a Kayaking Tour! We toured along the length of the park and back, navigating our way through caves and tunnels, it was a great experience! Fundy Trail Provincial Park - The Fundy Trail Provincial Park is a 2,559-hectare park featuring a 30km drive along the Bay of Fundy coast with stunning views in every direction. We stopped at a few beauty spots along the way including Long Beach, Big Salmon River, and Fuller Falls. We then arrived in our next location and checked in to the Delta Saint John for the evening, headed out to walk around the city, and enjoyed a fabulous meal at Italian By Night.
DAY FOUR: SAINT JOHN TO HALIFAX
A ferry ride from Saint John to Digby, Nova Scotia at sunrise and a delicious lunch at Grand Pre Le Caveau with a wine tasting were on the menu today before our final night was spent at Moxy Halifax Downtown in Halifax. A little bit of free time meant the opportunity to wander down to the waterfront with its restaurants, shops, and deckchairs to sit and watch the world go by. The evening brought a gorgeous meal at Cable Wharf Kitchen & Patio; where we feasted on some amazing seafood including Oysters, Mussels, and Salmon – the perfect ending to our Canada adventure.

ALISOUN’S TOP TIPS AND HIDDEN GEMS

• New Brunswick is 80% forest and has an abundance of provincial and national parks to be experienced – I recommend booking car hire, so you have the freedom to explore!
• Just like Scotland, New Brunswick can experience four seasons in one day; so, I also suggest packing layers! And good walking shoes!
• You must visit a winery! I had no idea that Canada produced such fine wines until I visited. The Magnetic Hill Winery was definitely one of my highlights!
