Tour Itinerary

• Day 1 • Fly to Johannesburg

  Travel to South Africa on an overnight flight.

• Day 2 • Arrival at Johannesburg airport

  Upon arrival in Johannesburg, South Africa’s biggest city, you’ll be met by your local tour manager and set off on a scenic transfer to the Sebatana Rhino Lodge. Once you’ve unpacked and settled in, lunch will be served.

• Day 3 • Wildlife Talk & Game Drive

  After breakfast, you’ll venture into the reserve in an open-air vehicle on your first game drive. During this journey, your guide will provide a wildlife talk about the different animals, birds and plants that inhabit the area, as well as the area’s history. This drive will be followed by lunch and some free time back at the lodge before you return on an afternoon game drive, with a local tracker, who’ll do his best to seek out wildlife. Keep an eye out – and have your camera at the ready – for zebras, meerkats, giraffes, wildebeest, and impalas. In the evening, dinner will be served at the lodge.

• Day 4 • Welgevonden Game Reserve & Optional Tribal Evening with Dinner

  After breakfast, embark a Big Five game drive in Welgevonden Game Reserve, part of the UNESCO-listed Waterberg Biosphere, home to over 50 mammals including lions, leopards, rhinos, buffalo, and elephants, with restricted access giving a private wilderness experience. After sunset, join an optional tribal dinner to taste local dishes, learn about African traditions, and enjoy music and dance performances in a recreated cultural village.

• Day 5 • Walking Tour, Game Drive & Optional Night Game Drive

  Join a morning bush walk in Sebatana Private Reserve with a guide highlighting animal breeding areas, local plants, and the Waterberg Mountains, then return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, take an open-air game drive to Christina’s Wallow and continue on foot to observe giraffes, wildebeest, and impalas up close. At dusk, an optional night drive reveals nocturnal wildlife like caracals, bush babies, and porcupines, finishing with a special three-course dinner at Flintstone Cave beside a fire.

• Day 6 • Game Drive & Champagne Brunch in the Bush

  Rise early for a morning game drive, spotting herds of antelope and other prey animals as they move to avoid predators. Mid-morning, enjoy a lavish Champagne brunch at Kudu Rock amidst the stunning African bush, then return to the lodge to relax. In the afternoon, you may join an optional tour to a local school or community to learn more about life in the area.

• Day 7 • Day At Leisure or Optional Excursion

  Enjoy breakfast and a day at leisure at the lodge, or join the optional Echoes of the Past, Hope for the Future excursion. Rise early for a game drive in Kaingo Private Reserve, spotting active wildlife in the cooler morning, then explore world-famous archaeological sites with stone tools, Bushman paintings, and ancient cave shelters. The tour concludes with a visit to The Fold at New Roads Mission, learning about initiatives supporting vulnerable local children through food, housing, and education.

• Day 8 • Kaingo Game Reserve & Sunset Rock Game Drive

  After breakfast, you can spend another day at the lodge lounging by the pool or join a last morning game drive into the Kaingo Game Reserve. If you still want to tick some of the ‘Big Five’ off your list, this is the perfect opportunity. In the mid-afternoon, there will be one more game drive to Sunset Rock, a fitting finale to your South African adventure. This spot is where you’ll have a magnificent vantage point and a chilled glass of Champagne while looking out over the Waterberg Mountains as the sky turns a cascade of red and orange.  You’ll then return to the lodge for a final dinner with your newfound friends.

• Day 9 • Travel to Johannesburg & Return to the UK

  Say goodbye to your wonderful hosts as you depart for Johannesburg. A packed lunch will be provided. Depending on season and opening hours you'll visit either the Apartheid Museum and Hector Pieterson Memorial in Johannesburg or the Voortrekker Monument in Pretoria. After the tour, continue to Johannesburg airport for your overnight flight back to the UK.

• Day 10 • Arrive back in the UK

  Early morning arrival after a wonderful South African adventure.
