Tour Itinerary

• Day 1 • UK - San Jose

  Depart the UK on your flight to San Jose. On your arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel. This evening, join your group for a light dinner included at the hotel.

• Day 2 • San Jose - Tortuguero

  Travel early to Tortuguero National Park, passing through Braulio Carrillo’s rainforest landscapes and stopping for a traditional breakfast in Guápiles. Continue through banana plantations to the port, then enjoy a scenic boat ride along Tortuguero’s canals to your lodge. After lunch and a short hike, relax at the hotel before joining a guided night walk to spot nocturnal wildlife such as bats, frogs, and insects.

• Day 3 • Tortuguero

  The morning begins with a safari boat tour through the canals of Tortuguero National Park. This park is renowned for being home to seven species of turtles, a wide variety of crustaceans, and numerous freshwater fish species. In the afternoon, enjoy a guided visit to the local village of Tortuguero.

• Day 4 • Tortuguero - Poas Volcano National Park

  Wake up to the sounds of birds chirping and howler monkeys calling as they begin their day. Start your journey back through the scenic canals of Tortuguero before boarding your ground transportation at the pier. Travel toward the Alajuela area, with a lunch stop along the way. Upon arrival, check in to your lodge, nestled in the lush foothills of Poás Volcano.

• Day 5 • Poas Volcano National Park - La Fortuna

  Begin with a visit to Poás Volcano National Park, walking cloud forest trails to view one of the world’s largest active craters, conditions permitting. Continue to La Selva Biological Station to explore its biodiverse trails and spot wildlife, then travel to La Fortuna for an overnight stay in the northern lowlands.

• Day 6 • La Fortuna

  Visit La Fortuna Waterfall, descending to its base to admire the 70-metre cascade set in lush jungle. Continue to Arenal Volcano National Park for a walk through lava-shaped landscapes with wildlife and volcano views. In the evening, opt to relax at Eco Termales Hot Springs, enjoying tranquil geothermal pools in a serene, limited-capacity setting.

• Day 7 • La Fortuna - Monteverde

  Travel to Monteverde, a breathtaking cloud forest in the Tilarán Mountain Range, crossing Lake Arenal and passing through scenic countryside and traditional villages. In the afternoon, explore the forest canopy at Treetopia Park Skywalk via trails and long suspension bridges, then visit the Monteverde Butterfly Garden to discover Costa Rica’s diverse insects and vibrant butterflies up close.

• Day 8 • Monteverde

  Spend the morning exploring the Monteverde Biological Reserve, a world-famous cloud forest rich in unique flora and fauna. In the afternoon, visit a local farm for immersive coffee, chocolate, and sugar cane tours, learning traditional production methods and tasting fresh local treats. End your Costa Rica journey with a farewell dinner, reflecting on the memorable experiences shared.

• Day 9 • Monteverde - San Jose

  After breakfast, head back to San José. En route, stop in the town of Sarchí, renowned as the heart of Costa Rican craftsmanship. This is the perfect place to witness the incredible skill of local artisans as they create the iconic traditional oxcarts. You'll also have the opportunity to purchase a unique souvenir to take home. With a bit of luck, you may even catch a glimpse of the largest oxcart in Latin America – an impressive two-story structure.

• Day 10 • San Jose - UK

  Transfer to San Jose Airport for your overnight flight back to the UK.

• Day 11 • Arrive in the UK

  Your flight lands back in the UK today.
