Discover the best of the Italian south with an experience-led exploration of Puglia and Basilicata alongside no more than 24 other travellers. Starting with a flight to Brindisi or Bari, you’ll enjoy an immersive stay at an original masseria (farm estate), which seamlessly combines modern amenities with traditional Apulian hospitality. Set across manicured grounds in the heart of rural Carovigno, this exquisite four-star hotel perfectly sets the tone for a week’s exploration in the Italian countryside. Your first included excursion introduces the region’s exquisite baroque heart, Lecce. Soak up the city’s ancient Roman heritage with a guided walk around the old town and marvel at its imposing duomo (cathedral), before heading to a local palazzo for a private tour and drinks courtesy of a local host.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1 • Fly to Puglia

Arrive in southern Italy and transfer through the countryside to your four-star hotel, a secluded masseria surrounded by olive groves and Adriatic views. Enjoy a welcome drink, spend the afternoon at leisure—perhaps on the sun deck or in the Jacuzzi—and dine at the hotel’s restaurant in the evening.
Day 2 • Day at leisure in Carovigno

After breakfast, enjoy a free day in Carovigno. Explore nearby towns via the hotel shuttle, play golf on the nearby course, or relax on the sun terrace or by the pool. Return to the hotel in the evening for dinner.
Day 3 • Included excursion to Lecce with aperitifs at Palazzo Morisco

After breakfast, embark on a small-group excursion to baroque Lecce, exploring the old town, Roman amphitheatre ruins, and the magnificent Duomo with its ornate baroque interiors. Conclude the day at Palazzo Morisco, where a local host will introduce the historic house, its grounds, and conservation efforts, followed by drinks and a taste of traditional Apulian hospitality.
Day 4 • Included tour of Matera

Today, travel through Puglia’s countryside to Basilicata to visit Matera, famous for its stone-cut dwellings and rock-hewn churches. Arrive in time for lunch (payable locally) and explore the ancient streets and piazzas of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Return to Puglia in the evening for dinner at the masseria.
Day 5 • Included excursion to Castellana Grotto, Alberobello and Locorotondo

After breakfast, enjoy a full-day tour through Puglia, starting with the spectacular underground caves at Castellana, guided through its towering stalagmites and stalactites. Next, visit Alberobello to see its iconic whitewashed trulli huts, then continue to the circular hill town of Locorotondo, surrounded by vineyards, for a wine tasting and regional specialties. Return to the hotel in the evening for dinner.
Day 6 • Optional visit to Bari or day at leisure

After breakfast, take a scenic journey to Bari, exploring the old town, Bari Vecchia, including the Norman-Swabian Castello Svevo, Piazza del Ferrarese, and the 10th-century Basilica San Nicola. Enjoy some leisure time in the city before returning to the hotel for dinner.
Day 7 • Included cooking class with included lunch and afternoon at leisure

This morning, join an optional cooking class at a nearby Masseria to prepare authentic Apulian dishes under the guidance of a local chef, followed by a traditional lunch featuring your creations. Alternatively, enjoy a leisurely final morning at Masseria Caselli, perhaps relaxing or playing a round of golf at the nearby course.
Day 8 • Return to the UK

Bid farewell to idyllic Puglia as you head to Brindisi airport for a flight back to the UK.
