About this tour

Ancient and ultra-modern sit shoulder to shoulder in Japan. On this Japan itinerary, you’ll experience both over two weeks, exploring high-paced cities, hushed shrines and temples, and serene gardens. You’ll attend a traditional tea ceremony, learn a little about geisha and samurai culture, catch a glimpse of Mount Fuji and whizz between cities on the sleek, slick Shinkansen (bullet train). This special departure coincides with the Gion Matsuri (Gion festival) in Kyoto, undoubtedly the country’s biggest festival.

Tour Itinerary

Days 1-2: UK - Tokyo

Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home for your flight. Arrive in Tokyo and enjoy a free day to explore.
Day 3: Tokyo

A tour guide helps embrace this dazzling city. As you walk out amidst skyscrapers and the world’s tallest self-supporting tower (the Tokyo Skytree), you’ll find Tokyo’s traditional side.
Day 4: Mount Fuji - Matsumoto

At 3,776m high, Japan’s tallest mountain has inspired countless artists and photographers. Clouds often linger so fingers crossed you catch sight of the snowcapped peak as you travel from Tokyo to Matsumoto.
Day 5: Matsumoto - Takayama

Matsumoto is a striking timber and stone structure with a unique moon-viewing turret. Sample sake in a traditional brewery, before your journey to Takayama.
Day 6: Takayama

Takayama is traditional Japan at its finest. Soak in the character on your walking tour, you’ll see the open-airflower and fruit market and government house.
Day 7: Kanazawa

Transfer by coach to Kanazawa, visiting the World Heritage Shirakawago Village en route. Your sightseeing tour includes Omicho market and Higashi Chayagai. Lakes of Killarney from Ladies View.
Day 8: Kanazawa - Hiroshima

Pack an overnight bag as your luggage is transferred to Kyoto. You’ll have another sweep of the city, stopping at the Kenroku-en Garden and BukeYashiki. After, the Shinkansen (bullet train) takes you from Kanazawa to Hiroshima.
Day 9: Hiroshima

Today you’ll catch a ferry to Miyajima Island to admire Itsukushima Shrine and its torii gate, spending time strolling through the park. In Hiroshima, take a walking tour around the Peace Memorial Park with time for reflection at the Atomic Bomb Museum.
Day 10: Nara - Kyoto

Another bullet train to Osaka, where you’ll board your coach to Nara. Arrive in Kyoto this afternoon where you’ll uncover geisha culture in the Gion area.
Days 11-12: Kyoto

This morning's visits include the Ryoanji Temple and the Kinkakuji Temple also visiting Nijo, a fortified castle.
Day 13: Kyoto - Mishima

Another bullet train whisks you from Kyoto to Mishima.
Day 14: Hakone - Tokyo

Drive to Hakone before a cruise on Lake Ashi for views of snow-capped mountains. Then, you’ll jump in a cable car up to the Owakudani Valley and Hot Springs. Later, arrive in Tokyo.
Day 15: Tokyo - UK

Transfer to the airport for your return flight. Upon arrival your Titan vehicle will be waiting for the journey home.
