Tupelo Hardware Company
Gladys Presley took her son, Elvis, to Tupelo Hardware Company to get a bicycle for his eleventh birthday. Young Elvis spotted a rifle on the wall and asked for it instead. His mother declined and a family friend working in the store offered Elvis a guitar from one of the cases. He left that day with a guitar and the rest is history. Tupelo Hardware Company is part of the Elvis’ Tupelo Driving Tour, and they still sell guitars today.
