• Day 1: UK -Atlanta, Georgia

  Kick off your self-drive holiday with an overnight in Atlanta. Walk or bike around the Atlanta BeltLine. Learn about the iconic drinks at World of Coca-Cola. Check out the sharks at Georgia Aquarium. Engage in immersive experiences at Illuminarium. Be president for a day at the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum. Catch a Broadway show at Alliance Theatre. Savour JR Crickets’ Lemon Pepper Wings, Bacchanalia’s Crab Fritters, and H&F’s Double Stack Burger.

• Day 2-3: Atlanta - Little River Canyon

  Next, get behind the wheel of your American fully kitted out C5 Motorhome for a true Alabama adventure. With eleven nights on the road, you’ll get to the opportunity to explore some of the state’s most stunning and diverse landscapes, from charming towns to breath taking mountain views. Suggested itinerary (there are campsites in all areas – to be paid direct by customers): Little River Canyon – This spectacular canyon is carved into the flat top of Lookout Mountain. Take the 23-mile scenic drive along the Little River Canyon Rim Parkway and seek out Little River Falls, DeSoto Falls, and Grace’s High Falls. Learn about the area at Jacksonville State University Little River Canyon Center. Hike or bike along the 26 miles of trails, enjoy a swim at Blue Hole, and go canoeing and kayaking along Little River.

• Day 4: Little River Canyon - Muscle Shoals

  ‘The Hit Recording Capital of the World’ lets you feel the spirit of the musical greats with a tour of FAME and Muscle Shoals Sound Studios and Alabama Music Hall of Fame. Hike through the woodlands and native plant garden at Muscle Shoals Reservation. Visit Ivy Green - once home to Helen Keller, the famous political activist. Go for bite to eat and listen to great music at the unique Rattlesnake Saloon.

• Day 5: Muscle Shoals - Huntsville

  Visit the interactive exhibits at U.S. Space and Rocket Center and the artworks at Huntsville Museum of Art. Glimpse into Huntsville’s past at Burritt on the Mountain. Escape to Huntsville Botanical Garden’s butterfly house and Monte Sano State Park’s Japanese garden. Enjoy live music and performances at Orion Amphitheatre. Take a bite of traditional Alabama cuisine at Commerce Kitchen.

• Day 6: Huntsville - Lake Guntersville

  Set between Bridgeport and Guntersville, the lake and surrounding state park are your gateway to outdoor adventures and small towns. Go fishing for bass on the lake. Whizz along the Screaming Eagle Zipline. See the unique exhibits at Scottsboro’s Unclaimed Baggage Museum. Admire train memorabilia at Bridgeport Depot Museum. Play golf at Gunter’s Landing Golf Course. Keep your eyes peeled for the state’s famous Bald Eagles.

• Day 7: Lake Guntersville - Cheaha State Park

  This 2,799-acre mountaintop retreat is Alabama’s highest point and boasts a landscape of granite boulders and ancient trees. Go fishing for bass and bluegill or ride a paddleboat in Lake Cheaha. Admire the views from CCC Observation Tower. Go hiking along Pulpit Rock Trail. Seek out High Falls, Devil’s Den, and Cheaha Falls. Spot Red-tailed Hawks soaring above the mountains.

• Day 8: Cheaha State Park - Montgomery

  Delve into local history at the Rosa Parks Library and Museum and Civil Rights Memorial Center. Step back into the life of country star Hank Williams at The Hank Williams Museum and Hank Williams Memorial. Go white-water rafting and kayaking at Montgomery Whitewater. Cheer on the Montgomery Biscuits at Riverwalk Stadium. Watch outdoor concerts at Riverfront Park.

• Day 9: Montgomery - Gulf Shores

  Enjoy tanning and water sports on Gulf Shores’ eight public beaches. Learn to build sandcastles at Sand Castle University. Go on a Segway tour through Hugh S Branyon Backcountry Trail. Admire the exhibits at Gulf Shores Museum and Butterfly Garden’s colourful butterflies and plants. Discover fun, food, and music at Lucy Buffett’s LuLu’s. Live, laugh, and be merry at Big Beach Brewing Company

• Day 10: Gulf Shores - Mobile

  Explore the city’s Mardi Gras at The Carnival. Venture back in time at History of Museum of Mobile, Colonial Fort Condé, and Africatown Heritage House’s ‘Clotilda: The Exhibition’. Delve into WW11 at Battleship Memorial Park’s USS Alabama and the American Civil War at Fort Gaines and Fort Morgan State Historic Site. Great food can be found at Wintzell’s Original Oyster House or the many restaurants on ‘The Causeway’.

• Day 11: Mobile - Birmingham

  Learn about Birmingham’s part in the Civil Rights Movement at Birmingham Civil Rights Institute. The city’s pig iron industry is celebrated at the Vulture statue and Sloss Furnaces National Historic Landmark. Go hiking along Red Rock Trail System’s Signature Trails. Cheer on the Birmingham Barons at Rickwood Field. Enjoy Alabama Theatre’s shows and tasty dining at chic bistros and cafes

• Day 12: Birmingham - Atlanta

  Ending your journey by driving from Birmingham back to Atlanta and spending the last night in your motorhome

  Drop off your motor home today and continue to Atlanta Airport in time your flight back to the UK
