• Day 1: Nice, France

  Fly from selected UK airport to Nice and embark on your 12-night cruise on board Silver Shadow

• Day 2-3: Livorno (Tuscany), Italy

  Tuscany is a region in central Italy; its capital is Florence which is home to many masterpieces of Renaissance art and architecture. Its diverse landscape comprises the Apennine Mountains, island of Elba's beaches, and Chianti's olive groves and vineyards. The 12th-century Florence Cathedral, known for its red titled dome and coloured marble facade, is a must-see. The Leaning Tower of Pisa is a completely iconic landmark; an elaborate 14th-century tower with a world-famous lean. Discover Renaissance paintings and masterpieces at Uffizi Gallery or take a walk across the medieval Ponte Vecchio stone bridge lined with unique souvenir shops. Luxurious palaces are not in shortage here; check out Palazzo Vecchio and Pitti Palace. The world-famous marble statue of David which depicts the famous biblical character is an attraction that cannot be missed.

• Day 4: Porto Santo Stefano, Italy

  Discover the beautiful seaport town of Porto Santo Stefano located on the west coast of Italy. In the municipality of Monte Argentario, this seafaring traditional town boasts scenic sandy beaches, beautiful countryside, lively harbours, and a historic old town. Visit the beautiful Spanish fortress built to control the port during the 17th century Spanish rule and wander around the exhibitions featured inside. Stroll through the picturesque historic centre, and stop for some traditional pizza, seafood or a gelato at one of the authentic cafes and restaurants. A trip to the aquarium is also worth a visit, as it recreates the typical ecosystem of the Argentario coastline. Take a trip to Giannella beach and relax on the golden fine sands, or why not book a boat trip to discover the nearby islands of Giglio and Giannutri?

• Day 5: Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

  Spend the day exploring the charming port of Civitavecchia and Rome — an ancient city filled with famous landmarks, distinct architecture and influential art. Visit Civitavecchia's main public square — Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II — and see the Baroque cathedral dedicated to St. Francis, before taking a seat in a pavement cafe for a taste of the local seafood. In Rome, enjoy a gladiator experience at the grand Colosseum, view the ancient ruins of the Roman Forum, and throw three coins in the Trevi Fountain. Pay a visit to the Vatican City — the home of the Catholic Church — and see St. Peter's Basilica, the Vatican Museums, and the Sistine Chapel with Michelangelo's ceiling.

• Day 7: Valletta, Malta

  Malta's small capital city — Valletta — sits within the city's original walls on a hillside and is known for its old churches, palaces and museums. Formerly ruled by the French, Italians, Spanish, and British; this UNESCO World Heritage site is filled with more than 300 historical monuments — making it one of the most concentrated historic areas in the world! Stroll through the narrow cobblestone streets of its old town district and see the famous Maltese-decorated balconies. Among a variety of churches, you can discover St. John's Co-Cathedral — one of Malta's biggest tourist attractions — with its striking interior decor and painting of John the Baptist by Caravaggio.

• Day 8: Giardini Naxos (Sicily), Italy

  Giardini sits on a bay on the Ionian Sea coastline of the island of Sicily, between Cape Taormina and Cape Schiso. This seaside resort is home to amazing beaches and four seafront lidos where you can sunbathe and swim to your heart's content. Pay a visit to the historic Castello de Schiso and the 20th-century Santa Maria Immacolata, explore the fascinating Museo E Area Archaelogica di Naxos, and follow the nearby sculpture trail inspired by Greek mythology. Depart on a boat trip along the coast to Isola Bella and the Grotta Azzurra. The popular holiday resort of Taormina is just a short drive away and well worth a visit too.

• Day 9: Salerno, Italy

  The picturesque port city of Salerno overlooks the Gulf of Salerno in Italy's Campania region. Stroll along the tree-lined seafront promenade before meandering through Centro Storico where medieval churches rub shoulders with traditional trattorias, trendy wine bars, and chic boutiques. Get up close to the fauna and flora at Giardino della Minerva or enjoy a spot of culture at Museo Archeologico Provincal and Museo Pinacoteca Provincal. Step inside the impressive Duomo di Salerno or climb up to the mountain-top Castello di Arechi to enjoy far-reaching views.

• Day 10: Gaeta, Italy

  Gaeta is one of the most beautiful cities in southern Italy. This small town lies on a promontory overlooking a picturesque bay and is famous for its seven fabulous sandy beaches. Explore Angevin- Aragonese Castle, Cathedral of Saint Erasmus, Church of SS Annunziata and the neo-Gothic Temple of St Francis. Admire the artefacts and art works at the Gaeta Archaeological Museum. Visit Parco Regionale Urbano Monte Orlando, the prominent hill separating new Gaeta from the old city. Here you will find the 'Split Mountain' where you can experience the true beauty of nature and journey back in time at the Roman Mausoleum. Spend a relaxing afternoon at the white sandy beach of Serapo or visit the Fontania beach where you can see the ruins of an ancient Roman Villa.

• Day 11: Portoferraio (Elba), Italy

  The port city of Portoferraio is situated on the edge of the island of Elba. Built in 1548 on the ruins of Fabricia, the historic city’s architecture pays homage to its ancient Roman and Gothic roots. Travel back in time and visit the remains of the Roman villa in Le Grotte or view the ancient artefacts at the Archaeological Civic Museum. Take a walk up Portoferraio's highest hill to visit Forte Falcone or venture up to the stunning lighthouse at Forte Stella. Discover Napoleon's summer residence Villa San Martino with its magnificent neo-classical architecture.

• Day 12: Portofino, Italy

  Portofino is found on Italy's north-west coast between Genoa and La Spezia. This beautiful fishing village is renowned for its pretty harbour, colourful buildings and connection with the rich and famous! Once ruled by the French, English, Spanish, and Austrians; Portofino has a diverse and interesting heritage. See the Christ of the Abyss statue and 12th-century Church of St. Martin, before climbing the 'Salita San Giorgio' flight of steps leading from the harbour to Castello Brown — a castle transformed into a mansion featuring a neo-Gothic interior! Kayak and snorkel along the coast or take a sightseeing tour to Genoa and enjoy designer shopping.

• Day 13: Nice, France

  It’s time to say goodbye to your crew and start the journey home.
