Cruise Itinerary

• Day 1: Lima/Machu Picchu (Callao), Peru

  Fly from selected UK airport to Lima and embark on your 14-night cruise on board Oceania Sirena. The capital of Peru lies on the country's Pacific coast. It’s a bustling metropolis and one of South America's largest cities. While visiting, explore ancient archaeological sites, or see the elegant cathedrals and palaces which date back to Spanish colonial times. Head to downtown Lima where you'll come across a busy beach and a range of dining options and shops. Experience the local culture by watching one of the live Folklore shows performed around the city.

• Day 2: Pisco/Nazca Lines, Peru

  Known for the grape brandy of the same name, Pisco is a city located on Peru's southern coast. Visit the nearby Paracas National Reserve and take a tour to view the rolling hills and wildlife. The town is popular for fishing and the reserve has an information centre, a small fishing village and some rather dramatic sea-shore cliffs. Take a boat trip to the Ballestas Islands to see the sea lions and hillside Candelabra; a huge etching of mysterious origins.

• Day 4: Arica, Chile

  The port city of Arica is famous for its surfing beaches and is located in northern Chile. Climb the path up to Morro Arica hill to take in the panoramic vistas and pay a visit to Museo Historico y de Armas war museum. Gaze in awe at the Gothic San Marcos Cathedral, which was designed and built in metal and wood in 1876 by famous French architect Gustave Eiffel. Visit the natural surroundings of La Cuevas de Anzota by the sea or learn about the Mummies of Chinchorro at Museo Arqueologico San Miguel de Azapa in the nearby town of Azapa. The high plains of the Andes mountain range rise to the east of Arica and are home to the scenic Lauca National Park and Chungara Lake.

• Day 6: Antofagasta, Chile

  Antofagasta impresses with its desert-meets‑ocean landscapes and striking natural landmarks. Explore the dramatic shores of the Atacama, visit the iconic La Portada rock arch, and wander the city’s lively waterfront lined with cafés and coastal views. With its unique blend of rugged scenery and maritime charm, this northern Chilean port offers a memorable taste of the world’s driest desert.

• Day 8: Valparaiso, Chile

  Discover the port city of Valparaíso along Chile's coast; best known for its steep funiculars and colourful cliff-top homes. Take a stroll along the popular Renaca Beach to appreciate the white sands, surfing opportunities, and nearby vibrant nightlife. Visit La Sebastiana Museo de Pablo Neruda, a hilltop house museum to commemorate Pablo Neruda featuring memorabilia and fascinating city views. Baburizza Palace is a must-see with its eclectic art-nouveau architecture or walk around Vina del Mar Botanical Garden to uncover many beautiful Chilean plant species. Stop by Ascensor Reina Victoria for the chance of breathtaking panoramic vistas or sightsee further with El Peral Lift; set towards the bay and the mountains.

• Day 10: Puerto Montt, Chile

  The port city of Puerto Montt is the capital of Chile's Lake District and is famous for being the gateway to the Patagonian fjords and the Andes mountains. There's plenty to do when you go ashore; from dining on the freshest local seafood or spending the day on a Pacific Ocean beach to setting off on an adventure to explore the Calbuco active volcano or the symmetrical Osorno Volcano. Visit the city’s Plaza de Armas square to admire the 19th-century neo-classical cathedral constructed from wood. Stop by the nearby Case del Arte Diego Rivera to view contemporary artworks by local and national artists. Venture outside the city and explore the delights of Caleta de Angelmo Market.

• Day 11: Castro, Chile

  Castro is located on Estero de Castro on the eastern coast of Chile's Isla Chiloé. The city is famous for its palafritos - traditional wooden stilt houses - with many to be found on Fiordo de Castro bay in the Gamboa district; not forgetting the archipelago’s 60 wooden Chiloéan typology churches, 16 of which are UNESCO-listed sites including Nuestra Senora de Gracia Nercon, Iglesia de Chonchi, and also Iglesia de San Francisco on Plaza de Armas. See the ethnography and archaeological exhibits at Museo Regional de Castro or admire the plethora of modern art at Museo de Arte Moderno de Chiloé. Castro is also the gateway to Chiloé National Park on the west coast of the island; which is special thanks to its Valdavian forest - a rainforest filled with beeches and endemic alerce trees.

• Day 12: Puerto Chacabuco, Chile

  Puerto Chacabuco is located at the head of the Aisen Fjord to the south of Puerto Montt and reminds you more of Norway than Northwest Patagonia. To the northeast is Lake Los Palos with its scenic backdrop of snowy mountains; while to the southeast is Simpson River National Reserve, home to cougars, forests, and amazing cascading waterfalls. Travel to the nearby town of Coyhaique and explore the arts and craft fair in the Main Square, where you can purchase handmade goods created from native wood, stone, leather, and wool.
