It's June! Summer is in full swing, and the longing to jet off on that bucket list trip is only building. So, we’re catching up with James to add a little inspiration to your day. After trekking Mount Toubkal on tour with Intrepid, he’s got all the top tips and inside stories for anyone thinking of trying out an epic hiking holiday.

“I decided to become an ambassador for touring as it’s a new adventure, and that’s my passion. Adventure! Hiking high and low, I endeavour to explore the globe one step at a time and share my stories with my lovely customers!”
Q1: Have you been on a tour before? If so, which one?
Yes, and I loved every minute. In 2022, I travelled with Intrepid to the stunning shores of Morocco, intending to conquer Mount Toubkal all in the name of charity with The Hays Travel Foundation. This trekking style of holiday was a first for me, but the most memorable holiday I have ever had.

Q2: How would you describe the tour in one word?
Unforgettable! Don’t let the worries of “trekking” stop you. I would recommend anyone to do this style of touring holiday. Whether you’re an avid hiker, into fitness or not, the tour was incredibly relaxed. You can go at whatever pace suits you. Plus, you will never see views like it. Simply incredible.

Q3: What touring destination would you recommend and why?
Japan! A surprise to some, Japan is a wonderland for nature lovers. The different levels of wildlife and landscapes are unbelievable. From season to season and city to city, there’s always something new to discover. Plus, touring Japan really is the best way to uncover its beauty and understand its ancient mystic history.
Q4: What’s your top tip for someone going on a touring holiday?
One tip? Embrace the pace.
Touring holidays are full of sights, stories, and moments you wouldn’t get to experience on a usual summer holiday to Spain or cruise across the Mediterranean. So, soak it all in, stay curious, and say yes to every experience.
Q5: What’s your dream tour and why?
Oh, that’s easy. A trekking holiday to Mt Everest Base Camp. After my first trekking experience with Intrepid, I caught the touring holiday bug and wanted to climb every mountain I could. And of course, the final boss for me is Mount Everest in Nepal. I know how rewarding the journey of a trekking holiday is, and seeing those colourful tents dotted at the foot of Earth's highest point is something I dream of. Bucket list holiday 100%!
