A group of Denton travel agents have raised over £1,600 for their local hospice after organising a charity night at Denton Cricket Club.

The Hays Travel team from Manchester Road organised the event to raise money for Willow Wood Hospice, where they provide high-quality specialist palliative and end-of-life care, support and education across Tameside and Glossop.

More than 90 guests attended the charity night, where they were treated to live music from local singer, Colin George, and a potato pie supper made by local councillor, Denise Ward. There were also lots of raffle prizes up for grabs.

Assistant manager at Hays Travel Denton, Sophie Harrison, said: “We chose Willow Wood to fundraise for as it is a charity that provides such important care to people within our local community.

We were so thankful to the local businesses who provided gifts for our raffle

“We were so thankful to the local businesses who provided gifts for our raffle, including gift vouchers, hampers, and flowers.

"Also to councillor Denise Ward who provided a complimentary potato pie supper and to Colin George, who works closely with Willow Wood Hospice and kindly volunteered to perform at the event.”

Tara Farren, of Willow Wood Hospice, said: “Wow, what an incredible amount of money! What a brilliant night as well. Well done again. Such an achievement and we really appreciate it.”
