Travel agents raise £650 for charity supporting people with learning disabilities

11/11/2025

A group of Fakenham travel agents have organised a string of fundraising activities to raise money for a charity which works to support people with learning disabilities.

The team from Hays Travel on Miller’s Walk in Fakenham held a raffle and bake sale as well as taking part in a sponsored treadmill walk and a 5K inflatable challenge.

The events raised £658 for FitzRoy – The Maltings, a charity which offers invaluable support and a range of services for adults with learning disability, autism, complex mental health support needs, and acquired brain injury.

The funds raised by the Hays Travel team will go toward creating a new sensory garden at The Maltings - a calming, inclusive space designed to offer enjoyment and relaxation for all who visit.

Assistant manager at Hays Travel Fakenham, Natasha Southerland, said: “We’re so grateful to everyone who supported us, whether by donating a prize, joining in on the day, sponsoring a team member, purchasing raffle tickets and cakes, or simply spreading the word.

It’s amazing to see what we can achieve together as a community

"It’s amazing to see what we can achieve together as a community. Also a huge thank you to everyone from Fitzroy who have been there every step of the way.

“The event not only brought people together but also highlighted the strength of local support for causes that make a real difference in people’s lives. Thank you again and stay tuned for future fundraisers we support.”

Hays Travel is the UK’s largest independent travel agent, with branches across the UK - all committed to supporting their customers and the local communities they serve.

Each Hays Travel branch is provided with a £500 budget to use for fundraising and charity work in their local area; £200 of this is to be used to fundraise for charities which support young people’s mental health, and the other £300 can be used for charities chosen by the branch.

In the last year, Hays Travel’s Local Community Partnership initiative across its retail network has donated over £177,000 to local charities.
