A group of travel agents have organised a coach trip to raise money for a local charity which supports families with children facing cancer.
The team from Hays Travel in the Crystal Peaks Shopping Centre (Yorkshire) took over 20 customers to Blackpool for the day on 31 October, with the funds from ticket sales going to PACT – Parents Association of Children with Tumours.
PACT offers emotional, social, and practical support to families in South Yorkshire who have children and young individuals facing cancer, aiming to enhance their quality of life.
Hays Travel staff hosted the fundraising coach trip which took them to Blackpool to enjoy fish and chips, sticks of rock, and the famous illuminations. Children onboard were treated to sweet bundles on the drive home.
The charity coach trip raised a whopping £540 for the local charity.
We chose to fundraise for PACT as it’s a charity close to our hearts
Travel consultant, David Miller, said: “We chose to fundraise for PACT as it’s a charity close to our hearts.
"The goddaughter of one of our team members has been supported by PACT during their cancer recovery and also a friend of the branch who books with us is a brand ambassador.”
The Hays Travel team have another charity coach trip organised in aid of PACT on 6 December when they’ll take customers to the Manchester Christmas Markets.
Hays Travel is the UK’s largest independent travel agent, with branches across the UK - all committed to supporting their customers and the local communities they serve.
Each Hays Travel branch is provided with a £500 budget to use for fundraising and charity work in their local area; £200 of this is to be used to fundraise for charities which support young people’s mental health, and the other £300 can be used for charities chosen by the branch.
In the last year, Hays Travel’s Local Community Partnership initiative across its retail network has donated over £177,000 to local charities.
