09/04/2026

A group of travel agents from Pocklington have organised a quiz night to raise money for a local charity that aims to tackle social isolation.

The team from Hays Travel in Market Place held the event at Pocklington Rugby Club on Friday 20 March, raising a whopping £1,000.

Around 70 people attended the charity night, where they were treated to a quiz, raffle and food.

Katie Thompson, travel consultant at Hays Travel Pocklington, said: “We decided to fundraise for Pocklington Rugby in the Community this year as they really are the heart of our community and help so many people.”

Pocklington Rugby in the Community aims to tackle social isolation by partnering with local organisations to expand active participation and encourage social connections.

Its primary mission is to serve the local community, especially those who feel isolated, lonely, or vulnerable.

What a wonderful evening the quiz night proved to be

Debbie Britton, Trustee from Pocklington Rugby in the Community, said: “What a wonderful evening the quiz night proved to be! Thank you so much to all the team at Hays Travel in Pocklington for your support in helping to make the fundraiser a huge success.

“The evening raised an incredible £1,000 and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

"The monies raised are crucial in enabling our charity to continue delivering events and gatherings for all our users in our community. For further information and details about our charity please see www.pockritc.com.”
