Jo Bungey - My Florida Educational
Jo Bungey, our Eastern Region Retail Sales Manager had the amazing opportunity to go to Walt Disney World in Florida on an educational trip recently. She got to experience the Disney VIP tour, where a guide ensures you get the absolute best out of your time as you can customise the tour to your own interests! Here’s all about her time in the sunshine state…
I got to experience all six magical Disney parks, even getting to take a selfie with the one and only Mickey Mouse himself! In Magic Kingdom, we got to go on a few rides including Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean. Next up was Hollywood Studios where we took the plunge on The Tower of Terror and got to explore the brand new Toy Story Land, taking in everything Andy’s backyard had to offer! At Animal Kingdom I found my favourite ride, Avatar Flight of Passage in Pandora – The World of Avatar. It’s truly unbelievable and I honestly thought I was really flying in Pandora! It’s an absolute MUST DO!
From the minute I arrived at the Animal Kingdom Lodge Hotel it really had the WOW factor. The level of detail that has gone into the décor of this African Themed Hotel is just fabulous. The lobby was filled with African art and artefacts, and the rooms were very special too! I stayed in a standard room which was very spacious, it had dark wood throughout, so a real native African feel to it, the beds were very comfortable, and lots of storage space. The bathroom was on the smaller side.
I would definitely recommend upgrading and staying in a Savannah room, to come out onto your balcony in the morning or throughout the day and see the Giraffes and Zebras roaming around is very special. The food was excellent, I went to the quick serve café where I had breakfast daily, I would of loved to of gone to Boma as heard it was lovely, but I personally didn’t experience it, I just heard how good it was, but I did experience the beautiful restaurant Jiko, this is a must, as the food was out of this world.
The swimming pool was great for children, lifeguards were on duty, and there were some lovely hot tubs to just sit a chill out in, and stayed open till approx. 22:00 at night, which was great after a day in the parks to relax and unwind in. The Disney Transportation system will take you to the parks and run every 15 minutes, so no need to hire a car, but if you wanted to pop to some shops or somewhere then Uber was also very cheap. This hotel was really special and I would 100% go back.
