Off the Grid Adventures CIC
Off the Grid Adventures is dedicated to empowering vulnerable and disadvantaged young people across the North East of England. The organisation aims to create safe and supportive spaces where young people can thrive by engaging them in adventure based activities, mentoring and personal development programmes.
Off the Grid Adventures received funding for a transformative outdoor adventure programme for young people. The programme was designed to build confidence, resilience and connection through a series of progressive activities, culminating in a residential expedition around Ullswater Way in the Lake District.
The activities included the likes of team building, navigation training, cycling skills and water safety which allowed participants to complete the 3 day residential challenge where the group completed the Ullswater Way loop. The participants completed the challenge using a combination of hiking, e-biking and paddleboarding and despite being both physically and mentally demanding, the group pushed beyond their comfort zones, worked together and succeeded.
Participants have been reported to have increased confidence and resilience, improved physical and mental wellbeing, teamwork skills and improved communication. Off the Grid Adventures have claimed that they are delighted to have delivered a high-impact programme that has left a positive lasting impression on the participants.
