Encephalitis International

Encephalitis International provides direct support and information to people affected by all types of encephalitis, raises awareness about the condition and promotes research around the condition. Since its founding in 1994, Encephalitis International has grown from a small, mutual support group to an international community of supporters with lived experience of encephalitis. 

Encephalitis International received a grant from the Hays Travel Foundation to fund the Returning to School guide, designed for children returning to school after encephalitis. The guide is also designed to help school staff understand how encephalitis changes lives and that their support is essential in helping the child have an enjoyable and successful return to school.

Returning to School aims to better enable the transition for children and young people when returning to school, ultimately helping to equip them for life after encephalitis in both their social and educational reintegration. 

Due to the funding from the Hays Travel Foundation, Encephalitis International is able to continue to work to achieve the mission of saving lives and rebuilding futures after the devastating impact of encephalitis.
