Things to Do

Glasgow is a city that doesn’t just welcome you—it sweeps you along in its energy. Known for its bold Victorian and Art Nouveau architecture, it’s a place where history and creativity go hand in hand. Start your journey at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, home to masterpieces and curiosities alike, before taking a leisurely walk along the River Clyde or through the leafy trails of the Botanic Gardens. The West End tempts with vintage shops, independent cafés, and cosy pubs, while the Merchant City buzzes with restaurants, nightlife, and live music spilling out into the streets. Music lovers can’t miss a gig at iconic venues like the Barrowland Ballroom, and sports fans can soak up the electric atmosphere at a football match. With bustling markets, innovative street art, and some of Scotland’s friendliest locals, Glasgow serves up culture, character, and charm in equal measure—no matter the season.

Visit the Kelvingrove Art Gallery

Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum is one of Glasgow’s most iconic landmarks and a must-visit for city explorers. Housed in a stunning Spanish Baroque-style building, it features over 8,000 exhibits, including masterpieces by Salvador Dalí, Rembrandt, and the Glasgow Boys, alongside Scottish art and decorative objects. Beyond paintings, the museum offers fascinating collections of armor, taxidermy, and ancient artifacts, appealing to visitors of all ages. With interactive displays and family-friendly activities, Kelvingrove provides a rich cultural experience—and best of all, admission is free.

Botanical Gardens

Nestled in the vibrant West End, Glasgow Botanic Gardens is a serene oasis with 28 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds and a diverse collection of plants from around the world. The highlight is the stunning Kibble Palace, a historic Victorian glasshouse housing rare tropical plants like towering tree ferns, orchids, and exotic palms. The gardens also feature winding paths, tranquil ponds, and seasonal flower displays, making it perfect for a leisurely stroll, picnic, or photography. Throughout the year, the Botanic Gardens host events, from guided tours to family workshops, offering something for nature lovers and curious visitors alike.

Explore the City

Glasgow’s city centre is a vibrant hub where historic charm meets modern energy. Wander through George Square, surrounded by impressive Victorian and Edwardian architecture, and soak up the lively atmosphere filled with street performers, markets, and events. Discover a rich shopping scene—from high-street brands to independent boutiques and vintage stores. Don’t miss the Merchant City area, known for its trendy restaurants, stylish bars, and buzzing nightlife. With numerous galleries, theatres, and cultural landmarks nearby, exploring Glasgow’s city centre offers a perfect blend of history, art, and contemporary urban life.
