We support two charities in this branch throughout the year.
The Charles Thompson's Mission in Birkenhead: That serves the people of Birkenhead and the Wirral since 1892, the mission helps men & women who are homeless, poor, out of poverty. They provide hot food, clothing, toiletries and other essentials, treating people with dignity & kindness.
The other charity we support is The Hospice of the Good Shepherd in Backford in Chester. The Hospice is not like most hospices, it is not part of the National Health Service (NHS). They provide crucial specialist end of life services and operate as a independent charity depending on the public and donations.
Both of these charities are close to our hearts, we have been supporting the Hospice for over 8 years and the Charles Thompson Mission more recently for the last 3 years. So far to raise money as a shop we have arranged a band night, walked 15 km uphill, made hampers, had cake sales, done tombola's in store, and the last main event we did was walk a 15 mile coastal route on one of the hottest days of the year! Obviously this bit wasn't planned and was a very challenging day but all well worth the monies raised. Between October-Mid December we always act as a drop off point for the homeless for any clothing donations etc. this proves really popular within our community, all donations we drop off at the Charles Thompson Mission.
