This beautiful Greek island in the Ionian Sea has been a firm favourite with holidaymakers for years – and it’s not difficult to see why. Surrounded by pristine beaches and lapped by crystal clear waters, Zante is exactly how a holiday island should be. From the buzzing nightlife of Laganas to the family-friendly vibe of Tsilivi, there are holidays in Zante to suit just about everyone. Discover rugged countryside, the pretty port and charming Greek tavernas, or just kick back and enjoy the sunshine, beaches and pools.
Zante is also home to one of the most photographed beaches in Zante, the must-see Navajio. Here, a shipwreck is stranded on white shingle and the sea is bright turquoise. Whether you’re looking for an all inclusive hotel in Zante, or want to stay in one of the island’s many self catering apartments, we’re bound to have the accommodation to suit you. Come and discover why Zakynthos (to give it its Greek name) is so loved by couples, families, solo travellers and groups of friends.
Holidays to Zante often revolve around the beaches, where you can find a wealth of watersports. These are non-motorised in Laganas, to protect the endangered loggerhead turtles. Excursions from Zante include Olympia on the Greek mainland, neighbouring Kefalonia and even overnight trips to Athens. For thrills and spills, Zante has two popular water parks to choose from. Plenty of shopping can be done in the resorts and in the pretty island capital, Zante Town. Don’t miss a boat trip around the island with a stop off at Navajio.
The nightlife in Zante depends very much on where you stay. The liveliest resort on the island also happens to be one of the most popular party places in Europe: Laganas is packed with a pulsing mix of cocktail bars, retro discos and big dance clubs. Elsewhere on the island, Argassi’s centre is also loud and lively after dark. In Tsilivi, there are plenty of bars and clubs to choose from, but things are more geared towards families and couples. The quieter resorts of Alykes and Alykanas have a smattering of bars, but nightlife is more about the restaurants and slow, seafront strolls.
Many hotels in Zante have their own restaurants, but there are many eateries to be enjoyed in the resorts themselves. Tsilivi, Laganas, Argassi, Alykes and Alykanas all have a good mixture of international establishments, serving up everything from fast food to Chinese and Italian. In Zante town, enjoy freshly-caught seafood from a waterfront restaurant. No holiday to Greece would be complete without dinner in a local taverna: pull up an alfresco chair and enjoy specialities like stifado, moussaka and hummus.
