We recently hosted an exclusive charity day in branch to help a local girl Jessica Mills and we raised £676.
Jessica has mitochondrial disease which on its own is more common than cancer. The strain Jessica has is called Kearne-Sayers Syndrome and is one of the rarest kind. There is no cure and her life has been a balancing act of reacting to each symptom. Jessica has been faced with Diabetes, Muscle wastage, a peg fitted, a pacemaker fitted and various operations including eye sling surgery so she could continue to see. Through all of this Jessica has taken it all in her stride and smiled the most gorgeous warming smile you can imagine. Jessica is now supported at home with 24 hour care and enjoys the small things in life
We have also been supporting Charlie Bear Childrens cancer appeal for the past 5 year and we have raised more than £12,000. Charlie Bear for Cancer Care is the charitable fund dedicated to raising funds for the Northern Centre for Cancer Care (NCCC) at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle.
