Full Itinerary

Day 1: UK – San Francisco
On arrival into San Francisco, pick up your rental car and drive to your downtown hotel, where you will stay for the next two nights. The rest of your day is at leisure, perhaps spend some time orienting yourself with the local area and enjoy a lovely, relaxed dinner tonight in the city.

Day 2: San Francisco
Today, you have a full day at leisure to explore San Francisco, known as the ‘City by the Bay’. We strongly recommend spending time in Fisherman’s Wharf today, full of indoor and outdoor dining, shopping, and family fun, accompanied by the fresh bay breeze. You can also walk across the iconic Golden Gate Bridge or enjoy a relaxing afternoon on the ferry to Sausalito and witness a unique perspective of the city skyline.

Day 3: San Francisco - Yosemite
Bid farewell to San Francisco today as you check out of your hotel and head on your scenic drive to the breathtaking Yosemite National Park, where you’ll stay for the next two nights. Your hotel is situated on the border of the national park and is the perfect base for exploring.

Day 4: Yosemite National Park
Today you have a full day to explore! Yosemite National Park embraces some of the world’s most spectacular scenery and affords a wonderful collection of waterfalls, meadows, and forests, including groves of giant sequoias. Marvel at the sheer granite domes and cliffs that soar thousands of feet up from the valley floor, and visit the massive glacial-shaped rock formations of El Capitan and Half Dome – the two most famous landmarks of the park, that keep a majestic watch over the valley.

Day 5: Yosemite – Monterey/Carmel
Begin your journey back towards the coast early this morning, by taking Highway 49 through California Gold Country and follow in the steps of the thousands of gold seekers during the gold rush of 1949. The area’s streams and creeks are still considered to be some of the best in the world for gold panning enthusiasts. You’ll continue through the mountains of the Sierra Nevada before descending through California’s agricultural Central Valley to the charming seaside town of Monterey and the quaint village of Carmel. Check in to your hotel, where you will stay for tonight and the rest of your evening is at leisure.

Day 6: Monterey/Carmel – Highway 1 – Central Coast
This morning, check out of your hotel and take a drive south, down the scenic 17-Mile Drive to enjoy stunning views of the rugged coastline and the Pacific Ocean as you pass through the famous Pebble Beach Golf Course. Then, join the renowned Highway 1, considered one of the most scenic roadways in the whole of the United States, as you drive towards San Luis Obispo to tonight’s overnight stop on the Central Pacific Coast.

Day 7: Central Coast – Santa Barbara – Malibu – Pacific Coast Highway – Los Angeles
Take some time this morning to explore the beautiful beaches of the Central Pacific Coast before continuing your road trip south to the beautiful seaside community of Santa Barbara, the American Riviera. Explore the famous mission and palm-lined walkways, before continuing south through to Malibu and along the Pacific Coast Highway to the bustling resort of Santa Monica. When you arrive, perhaps watch the sunset over the glistening Pacific Ocean before driving to check into tonight’s hotel to reminisce over the fantastic postcard memories of your California adventure.

Day 8: Los Angeles - UK
Check out of your hotel and drop off your rental car at the LAX depot before catching your flight back to the UK, armed with wonderful memories of your adventure.
