Our awareness of the Hounds for Heroes charity began when we noticed volunteers training dogs outside our branch on the High Street. After researching the cause, we discovered that these volunteers teach assistance dogs to help injured and disabled people from the UK Armed Forces and Emergency Services - so we decided to make a proposal and get involved.
As the charity proudly states, it's about ability not disability. We wanted to raise money so that Hounds for Heroes could train even more intelligent assistance dogs to help give these brave men and women as much independence as possible.
Recently, we launched the 'Handmade by Hays' project, where we all get together to design, make and sell pet bandanas with 100% of the profits going to Hounds for Heroes.
We are also organising various events, including quizzes and raffles, to help raise money. All details for any events will be displayed on Facebook and in our shop window, so please "like" our official 'Hays Travel Petersfield' and 'Handmade by Hays' pages!
