Art lovers will delight in the Spinnerei, once a cotton mill, now a thriving artist community with galleries and artist workshops. Follow Leipzig?s map of canals from the inner city harbour to either Lake Cospuden or Leipzig New Lakeland recreation area. Winter weather sets the festive scene for the Leipzig Christmas Market, home to over 260 gift-laden stalls. Leipzig enjoys a continental climate with cool winters and warm summers. Average daily temperatures in July and August are 23C. January and February are the coldest months, with temperatures averaging between 3C and -3C.
Things to see & do

You'll be spoilt for choice of things to see and do during a holiday in Leipzig. Experience the Amazonian rainforest at the Asis Panometer, housed in a former gasometer, it offers 360 degree panoramic views. Visit the flora and fauna at the Botanic Garden Leipzig. Leipzig really comes to life after dark with a great choice of bars and nightspots to choose from. The lively bar district of Drallerwatsch is the place for a bar crawl. Barfussgassden is also popular for nightlife, especially at weekends. The Auerbach Keller is one of Germany's oldest pubs and the perfect place to enjoy a beer or a cocktail in the Mephisto Bar. Spend a relaxing evening listening to a Grand Concert by the famous Leipzig Gevandhaus Orchestra.

Food & drink

Leipzig streets are lined with tasty cafes and restaurants. Local specialities include Leipziger Allerlei (vegetable dish), Leipziger Lerche (cake) and the Leipziger Gose (beer). Local German wines make the perfect accompaniment to your meal.
