The port of Kavala in Northern Greece is backed by the slopes of Mount Simvilon and flanked by the Aegean Sea. Holidays in Kavala centre around its sandy beaches, which are popular with families as their gently sloping sands are washed by safe, calm waters. The busy waterfront is lined with shops, bars and restaurants. Kavala's old town 'Panagia' is a maze of narrow lanes dotted with 18th and 19th-century buildings and pastel-coloured houses. Other points of interest in the resort include the Archaeological Museum, the Municipal Folklore Museum, the lighthouse, the 5th-century castle and tower and the remains of an Ottoman aqueduct. Kavala looks out towards the lush, green island of Thassos, one of the most picturesque Greek islands, and a 40-minute hydrofoil journey from the port will enable you to explore. Kavala is the perfect choice for families and couples seeking a beachside holiday in the Greek sunshine. And, with flights to Kavala taking less than 4 hours from the UK, a relaxing holiday in Kavala is never too far away.
