Great Hotel

Great hotel. Travelled here for friends wedding that was based at this hotel and the staff could not be more helpful and the hotel was beautiful. Would recommend.
Pool area - Always plenty of sunbeds no matter what time of day you went down to the area. No entertainment around the pool areas just music around the pool bar at the front of the hotel and no music in the garden pool area - very peaceful.
Food was lovely around the front pool bar and service was very quick. costs for food and drink were a bit more in the hotel compered to outside the hotel, offered burgers and wraps ect.
Overall very clean and lots of room. if you are not a guest at the hotel they will try to charge you 20 euros per person to be around the pool (there isn't any sign of this so you could fight it as along as your buying drinks and food around the pool area)
Rooms - my friend stayed in a whirlpool room which was massive! Enough room for two couches, dining table and still plenty of room in just the living room section. rooms were cleaned often.
The 5 star section of the hotel was beautiful, the bride got upgraded to a suite in the 5* section which was out of this world. The room had a Jacuzzi behind the bed, steam room, UV massage table, stairs up to their own private pool area with BBQ area. WOW!! It was amazing. If you can afford the upgrade then I would go for it but you would never leave your room.
Food - very nice food, great variety served. for the meal for the wedding was beautiful. very classy meals.
Staff at this hotel were always very helpful if there was any problem.

Overall review of this hotel - I would recommend this hotel for any visitors. Great place to visit and then to explore the resort of Sliema and other areas. Down the road from the hotel is a promenade which offers plenty choice of restaurants and bars. St Julians was only 10 min taxi ride away from this hotel if wanting a bit more night life.
Brilliant hotel

Not 4* looking v tired! Rumours re demolishing hotel end of year! Don't think we would go back. Malta and holiday was good tho.

Fabulous position, wonderful staff and a brilliant room. We tried each restaurant and loved each one. Quality was superb. The Fortina is highly recommended and would gladly pay a return visit as soon as possible. The service was warm and friendly. Staff were very helpful.

Mr Earnshaw, 16 October 2016

couldn't be better great room

Mr Hurcom, 19 September 2016

Would not call it 4 star as it looks very tired in its decor and fittings.
The "hard sell" on our first morning to join their holiday scheme for £3,600 plus weekly charges went on far too long and we were essentially lured into the presentation by telling us they had our vouchers for the boat and Spa. These vouchers were included in the package advertised in the brochure so we were assuming that we were simply collecting them, however we soon found ourselves experiencing the sort of situation that one is warned about on TV programs such as Watchdog. We would not have expected that sort of trickery from a 4 Star hotel.

Mr Regan, 27 August 2016

The Hotel is a fantastic concept and gave you so much choice on your doorstep for places to relax, swim and eat. Do be aware that when you pay extra to upgrade to a sea view room, you downgrade the class of room as you are in the more dated part of the hotel and it really shows in the room. For us, on balance, it was worth it, because it was more than just a sea view with Valletta as your backdrop. Don't be too envious of the plush garden rooms in the newer part if you do upgrade!

Mrs Wilkinson, 22 July 2016

Accommodation was good but we were given a room with no balcony which we asked for when we booked. The food was good but there was no entertainment.

Mrs Macdonald, 03 July 2016

this is a good hotel but the 4 star could do with a referferbishment

Mr Harding, 18 June 2016

Hotel very good Great view from our bedroom of Valletta well worth an up grade.

Mr Baker, 01 June 2016

Harbour views from room and location excellent. Hotel good although some parts could be improved with refurbishment.

Mr Stirling, 17 May 2016

Once the room problem was sorted the room in the 5* Spa was excellent. However some of the restaurants in the hotel were not very good with somewhat limited menus.

Mr Parr, 13 May 2016

Smashing hotel with a wonderful view amazing food on the dine around excellent apart from the Italian which was poor..would stay there again

Mrs Teasdale, 28 March 2016

Good hotel and helpful staff.

Mr Jones, 22 March 2016

nice hotel, well located for transport and excellent views of Valetta.
room clean, but bed uncomfortable (2 singles with thin mattress on creaky hardboard). reception staff distant and unhelpful

Mrs Bridle, 11 January 2015

Although we classed it as good the hotel is hardly 4 star. On the plus side we were moved to a better room after complaining about the noisy people in the room above us, the food was good but not much choice for veg. On the negative side the 'cocktail bar' was cold, damp (following an ingress of sea water) and lacking in entertainment with the exception of a very talented mandolin player for a couple of nights. SAGA had taken over the most comfortable parts of the hotel so the only place to sit, not in a bar, was in the main foyer which was also cold and draughty. We used the bar next door in the hotel's sister '5 star' which was warmer and more comfortable but still the only decent entertainment was the mandolin player.

Mr Potter, 10 October 2014

Not very fairly rated as 4 star as it was shabby and in places unclean. I was unable to use the shower as the gap through the doors was only 14 inches, they weren't prepared to change rooms despite some being available without extra charge. Lifts frequently not working especially only lift to the restaurant out of order for days and only stairs available were winding. Staff not particularly friendly. condition of Towels and laundry very poor. I would not recommend this Hotel to anyone.

Mrs Holmes, 10 September 2014

hotel is extremely dated, room needed a good clean carpet stained and shower screen seal green mouldy!!! Dont know how it is rated 4 star dine around is a joke you limited in choice of menu bar staff very surly

Mrs Greenwell, 14 July 2014

excellent location, not quite 4 * but clean restaurants not so good - italian
was pizza only and very poor pizza at that - other guests complained. Table 1
was much better but suffered a power cut shortly after we were seated but ovens
must have been gas powered as food still kept coming. Main restaurant good & clean, we used this for breakfasts & for 3 evening meals but food was good but not very inspired (same carvery joint for 2 of the 3 nights).
Reception staff a bit unfriendly but did try to help when our pre-booked private taxi failed to appear for the return pick up. The housemaid though was very friendly and kept our room spick & span.

Mr Edwards, 19 June 2014

Rooms average but overall the hotel was good
