Things to see & do

You'll be spoilt for choice of things to see and do during a holiday in Germany. The Octoberfest, the biggest festival in Europe, takes place annually in Munich from late September to early October. Experience the 350km Romantic Road in Bavaria lined with fairytale castles and historic cathedrals. Neuschwanstein Castle is a mustsee sight, thought to be the inspiration for Disneys Sleeping Beauty Castle. Party at the Stuttgart Summer Festival, a large openair event with food, live music and cabaret. Visit the remnants of the Berlin Wall, Brandenburg Gate, Checkpoint Charlie and Museum Island in Berlin. Cologne Cathedral is a sight not to be missed. Visit the Christmas Market in Nuremberg. The children will enjoy a visit to the Europa Park Theme Park in Rust, the whole continent in one place visit the MIR space station or take a ride on the Silverstone Race Track. Explore the rolling hills, small villages and lush forests in the Black Forest. Visit the oldest city in Germany, Trier, and see Porta Nigra, the Cathedral of Trier and the Holy Robe.

With 13 wine regions to choose from in Germany, its hardly surprising that the wine is plentiful, choose from Reisling to Silvaner, Rivaner and Pinot Noir. German beers also make a great accompaniment to any meal.
