Alison, Michelle, Sammie and Imogen from our branch took part in this year’s Royal Marines Charity Commando Challenge and survived the toughest course going.
The challenge is a rare opportunity for members of the public to take the Royal Marines’ own endurance training course, across Woodbury Common, near Exmouth. This provides an insight on what a Royal Marine goes through during their training and allows entrants to take on the sheep dip and Peter’s pool as well as other obstacles over a 5 or a 10k course.
We took part in the 5k course and raised a total of £650.
Most of us in store have a connection to the charity – Allison’s husband is a marine and so is Michelle’s father. The Royal Marines training headquarters are located close by to Exmouth and they form a massive part of our community.
Those who donated were able to choose between using a Just Giving page and the option to text instead. Prior to the event we held a raffle with the top prize provided by Hays Travel and other prizes donated from local businesses along with street fundraising.
Thank you to everyone, who supported our very brave girls!
