Full Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Dubai

On arrival into Dubai International Airport, you will be met and privately transferred to your hotel, 4* Queen Elizabeth 2, where you will stay for the next three nights. You will have the remainder of the day free, perhaps spend time orientating yourself with the ship and enjoying the host of restaurants, bars, and outdoor terraces offering cuisine from around the world.


Day 2: Dubai

Today, you will head off on your 4x4 Dubai desert safari tour. This small-group tour includes a drive on Dubai’s highest dunes – the 300-foot (90-meter) ‘Big Red’ slopes of Al Hamar – and a full line-up of additional activities, including a buffet dinner, belly-dance show, sand boarding, optional camel riding, and more, all in an 'Arabian Nights'-style setting.


Day 3: Dubai

Today, enjoy a free day to explore Dubai at your leisure. You may wish to stay on the ship and take part in a QE2 Heritage Tour, where you will step back in time and discover a glimpse of what life was like on board the iconic Queen Elizabeth 2 during her sailing days. You could also visit nearby Dubai Mall, which is packed full of shopping and dining outlets and is where you can ascend the magnificent Burj Khalifa.


Day 4: Dubai - Johannesburg

This morning, check out of your hotel and catch your private transfer to the airport for your flight to Johannesburg. On arrival in Johannesburg, you will be transferred privately to your hotel, 4* Maslow Hotel, where you’ll stay for two nights on a bed and breakfast basis. You’ll spend your first night at leisure in Johannesburg, perhaps head to the hotel’s Africology Spa, which offers guests a truly indulgent pampering experience.


Day 5: Johannesburg

You have an exciting day ahead in Johannesburg. Enjoy breakfast before being picked up at the hotel for your full-day Soweto & Apartheid Museum Tour. Thanks to your experienced and informative tour guide, this tour will immerse you in the history of the anti-apartheid struggle with visits to the Apartheid Museum and the Hector Pieterson Memorial & Museum, before giving you the chance to see Nelson and Winnie Mandela’s former home.


Day 6: Board the Blue Train

After breakfast this morning, you will be privately transferred from your hotel to Pretoria train station where you’ll board the stunning Blue Train for a two-night all-inclusive journey to Cape Town. After registering and checking in at the Blue Train station lounge, you’ll enjoy pre-departure snacks and drinks before departing at 2pm. You’ll love watching the view change through your panoramic window, from open farmlands to rugged mountains, as you make your way to Cape Town. High tea is served at 4pm and dinner is served in two sittings, between 6.30-8pm or 8.15-10pm.


Day 7: The Blue Train

Today is day two on the Blue Train. Breakfast is served 6-9am and you will arrive at Kimberley at 9.30am for a thrilling, off-train excursion to the Kimberley Open Mine Museum for a tour of the mine. The attraction is named the ‘Big Hole’ and gives visitors the chance to go underground in a recreation of a mine shaft and learn about the history of diamond mining, see historic memorabilia and buy diamonds slightly cheaper than usual. Lunch, high tea, and dinner are all served on board The Blue Train while you continue your journey past views of mining landscapes and of course Table Mountain, on your way to Cape Town.


Day 8: The Blue Train – Cape Town

This morning is your last morning on board the Blue Train. Enjoy your last breakfast between 6.30-10.30am, and you’ll arrive into at Cape Town at midday. You’ll be picked up at Cape Town Station by private transfer and taken to your hotel, 4* Old Bank Hotel, where you’ll stay for four nights on a bed & breakfast basis. Tonight is at leisure to enjoy and explore Cape Town.


Day 9: Cape Town

Today is a free day in Cape Town. Enjoy a relaxed breakfast at the hotel then perhaps take a walk to the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, which is the ideal base to explore the city. Visit the Waterfront’s shopping malls or enjoy a meal or a drink at one of the many bars and restaurants.


Day 10: Cape Town

Today, after breakfast, you’ll head on your Full-Day Aquila Safari. After being picked up, your group will head up the N1 Highway, through the spectacular Hex River Valley and arrive at Aquila Private Game Reserve. The bio-diverse habitat of the reserve ensures plenty of interest for the avid game viewer and birder. An experienced game ranger will take you on a game drive where you’ll have the chance to see giraffe, black and blue wildebeest, zebra, leopard, and 172 species of bird, including the black eagle. Lunch is included today.


Day 11: Cape Town

You have another free day to explore Cape Town at your own pace. After a relaxed breakfast, you may wish to contact the concierge service, who can you help to book a variety of day tours, including Table Mountain cable car and The Hermanus Whale Route.


Day 12: Cape Town to Franschhoek

Today, after breakfast, you’ll be privately transferred from Cape Town to 4* Franschhoek Boutique Hotel, where you’ll stay for two nights on a bed & breakfast basis. The rest of the day is at leisure, perhaps stroll along the gorgeous main strip of Franschhoek Village and spend time at some of the restaurants and shops within walking distance.


Day 13: Franschhoek

You have a free day to explore Franschhoek at your own pace. After a relaxed breakfast, you may wish to head to Franschhoek Motor Museum, where you can look back at more than 100 years of motoring (own expense), or book the Franschhoek Wine Tram experience, where you’ll journey through rolling vineyards, stopping in at some of South Africa’s oldest and most distinguished wine estates (own expense).


Day 14: Franschhoek – UK

Check out of your room after breakfast and spend your final few hours buying souvenirs and relaxing in the hotel. You’ll then be picked up and privately transferred to Cape Town International Airport for your flight back to the UK.
