Nerja Holidays

With 16km of soft, sandy beaches, outstanding weather and plenty of authentic Andalusian charm to boot, holidays in Nerja are the perfect escape for holidaymakers that want all the very best of a Spanish getaway! This fabulous resort is often referred to as the 'jewel' of Spain's Costa del Sol (the 'Sunshine Coast'), and for families, couples and groups of friends alike, Nerja holidays offer plenty of gems of their own.

Nerja's most famous attraction - other than its beaches, of course - is the Balcón de Europa, a former fortress and now a clifftop promenade with magnificent panoramic views over the Mediterranean. The 'balcony of Europe' is a hub of activity too, lined with cafes and restaurants and often occupied by street performers. You may even be lucky enough to time your Nerja holiday to catch one of the many festivals or concerts that take place on the Balcón throughout the year - of which the New Year's Eve celebration is certainly the highlight!

From the Balcón you'll also be able to see the Nerja Caves, or Cuevas de Nerja, which are also an absolute must-see. Take a guided tour through the caverns to marvel at the widest naturally-formed column in the world plus see the cave paintings, which date back as far as 3,600 BC, and learn about the ancient tribes who left them there.

Then there's the Old Town, with its white-washed houses and pavement tapas restaurants where you can feast on all the most delicious Andalusian dishes, washed down with a cold sangria. But while you'll have plenty of opportunities to immerse yourself in the history and local culture of Nerja on your holiday, this resort has plenty of contemporary attractions including excellent golf courses, fabulous restaurants and a vibrant nightlife with bars, clubs and pubs galore!

Nerja holidays tend to be all about the beach (or the beaches there's 16km of them here.) Away from the soft sands and sea, explore inland villages like Frigiliana, packed with traditional charm. Underneath the resort, theres a fascinating network of prehistoric caves, complete with ancient paintings. Golfers love the Costa del Sol for its courses and there are plenty near to Nerja. Great day trips from here include taking the boat to Gibraltar, culture and stunning scenery in Ronda and the must see Alhambra Palace at Granada. Many hotels in Nerja offer entertainment, usually in the form of cabaret and shows. In the resort, youll find a host of late night venues, from karaoke bars to clubs. Still, the resort is large enough for visitors to be able to avoid the nightlife if they wish which is one of the reasons so many couples and families come here. For a much slower paced lifestyle, head into the Old Town and pull up a chair at a pavement cafe.

You'll find a vast array of places to eat and drink here. Many hotels in Nerja have their own restaurants. In the resort itself, the main promenade spoils you for choice with a good mix of outdoor restaurants, most of which have a terrace with a view. Don't miss the chance to try tapas and sangria in the atmospheric Old Town.
