Day 1: Arrive Boston
Upon arrival at Boston Airport, transfer independently to your Boston Airport hotel where you will meet your Tour Director, your guide for the next ten days. Complimentary airport shuttles may be operated by your airport hotel.

Day 2: Boston - Salem - Kennebunkport - Portland
This morning, you will board your air-conditioned coach (equipped with Wi-Fi) with the rest of the group and your Tour Director. You will head along the route north of Boston, where almost four centuries of history, as well as some of the East Coast’s finest beaches and seascapes can be found. Your first stop today is Salem, the site of the infamous 17th century witch trials. Continuing along the coast you’ll stop to gaze at Cape Neddick “Nubble” Lighthouse, the most photographed lighthouse in America. Passing through Portsmouth, the oldest community in New Hampshire known for its thriving fishing community and historic buildings, your next stop will be Kennebunkport. Kennebunkport is home to the palatial summer estates of prominent politicians, including the 41st U.S. President, George Herbert Walker Bush. From Kennebunkport, it’s on to Portland, Maine’s largest city. This evening you have the option to join your Tour Director and group for a traditional lobster dinner (own expense).

Day 3: Portland - Bar Harbor
Today’s journey along Route 1 from Portland to Bar Harbor provides lots of enjoyable scenery. Out the window of the coach you can gaze upon the state’s jagged coastline and rocky beaches as you pass through quaint villages. Known for its stunning coastal beauty, Bar Harbor has a world-renowned ambience that blends seashore community with Downeast character. This evening you have the option to attend a classic New England Clam Bake, which brings the shore straight to your table (own expense).

Day 4: Bar Harbor - White Mountains
Leaving Bar Harbor, you’ll travel inland towards the spectacular scenery of the White Mountains, the “rooftop of New England”, whose landscape is dotted with enchanting bridges, historic sites, and picturesque towns and villages. En route, experience breathtaking mountain vistas, pristine forestry, and world-renowned foliage.

Day 5: White Mountains - Stowe - Green Mountains
Today, traverse the White Mountains and ride the Cannon Mountain Aerial Tramway for spectacular panoramic views, before travelling on to Stowe, a classic 200-year-old village nestled beside Vermont’s highest peak, Mt. Mansfield. Continue through the lakeside city of Burlington to Vermont’s Green Mountains, passing stunning views of open meadows, farmlands, and forests. The Green Mountains’ dense forests are home to bears, moose, wild turkey, and deer, so you may be lucky enough to spot some of this local wildlife.

Day 6: Green Mountains - Newport
Leaving Vermont, you’ll travel south and experience Quaker culture on an in-depth tour of the Hancock Shaker Village, before entering the U.S.’s smallest state, Rhode Island. Home to spectacular coastal scenery and awe-inspiring architecture, Newport is considered by many a shining gem in the coastal crown of New England. Take a stroll along Newport’s famous Cliff Walk to truly appreciate this seaside city’s natural beauty. Here, between the Atlantic Ocean and sprawling lawns, sit the famed Gilded Age mansions that once were the summer playgrounds for socialite families. Tour one of these opulent mansions for a glimpse into the lavish lifestyle of the privileged from a bygone era.

Day 7: Newport - Cape Cod
From the opulence of Newport, you’ll continue to the unspoiled natural beauty of Cape Cod, where picturesque beaches, lighthouses, spectacular ocean views, and gorgeous sunsets await.

Day 8: Martha’s Vineyard (Optional)
Today, you can choose to spend the day further exploring Cape Cod at your leisure or take a short ferry ride to Martha’s Vineyard (own expense). Spread over 100 square miles, each of Martha’s Vineyard’s six towns has its own proud history and unique character. Explore miles of pristine beaches, dramatic cliffs, majestic lighthouses, rural landscapes, and picturesque waterways.

Day 9: Cape Cod - Plymouth - Boston
Today begins with a visit to Plymouth, the town where English colonists first made a home in New England. See Plymouth Rock and enjoy views of Plymouth Harbor and the Mayflower II, a replica of the original Mayflower ship (onboard admission not included). Returning to Boston, you’ll retrace the steps of the Freedom Trail which may include a stroll beside Boston Common, King’s Chapel, the Boston Massacre site, and numerous pubs and taverns where America’s Founding Fathers toasted freedom. Enjoy lunch at one of Boston’s many restaurants where you may wish to try a steaming hot cup of traditional New England Clam Chowder (own expense). Afterwards, explore Quincy Market, Boston’s first marketplace from the 1800’s, now home to boutiques, cafés and shops.
