Sarah Wood - Marella Explorer Educational
I was given the opportunity to experience this lovely mid-sized ship before she set sail on her next adventure to the Norwegian Fjords. The Marella Explorer is an All Inclusive ship and the largest of the TUI fleet with a casual laid back atmosphere it is ideal for those wanting an informal cruise with the opportunity of formal if desired. This ship has enough facilities to keep everyone happy.
There are nine eateries to enjoy with various options from pizzas to French inspired cuisine. There's a two tier waiter service restaurant called Latitude 53 where you can enjoy traditional dishes while admiring the great view from the floor to ceiling windows. You really are spoilt for choice!
I chose to have lunch at The Market Place, a buffet restaurant that offered a wide choice of food including salads, meats, cheese and desserts! I also enjoyed refreshments at the coffee pot, which is a barrister style café offering drinks, chocolate and cake with prices from £1 who could not resist?
After all that food, if you want to stay fit and burn off those calories then the Champneys gym is equipped with treadmills, bikes, weights and a variety of fitness classes, plus an outside running track!
The perfect place to unwind and catch the rays is the large outdoor area. There is a good sized pool, Jacuzzi, pool bar, a sports deck, cinema, the added bonus of a large TV screen and for families a fun packed kids club. For those who like to be pampered and at a reasonable cost there is a Champneys@Sea Spa with a thermal suite, hairdressers, treatment rooms and a large sauna with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the sea. It was breath-taking.
The entertainment venues and team on-board do not disappoint. The Broadway theatre offers 2 show stopping shows a night, the lounge maybe loud and vibrant in colour but the atmosphere is relaxed by the sounds of the soothing piano.
The Squid & Anchor pub has two bars where you can enjoy live music and quiz nights. The Indigo cocktail bar with its adjoining casino offers 360 degree views. Not forgetting the Indigo Club for the night owls complete with a DJ Booth and dance floor. I would most certainly cruise on the Marella Explorer.
