Rosie Bryan: What I love about my apprenticeship

Rosie Bryans

I began my apprenticeship in August 2018, here is my journey so far…

I first heard about the Hays travel apprenticeship programme when I was on the lookout for a new career path. Travel was a passion of mine but it was hard to get into the industry as I lacked experience. My sister then tagged me in a Facebook post and it went from there…

I had originally applied for the Retail Travel Academy but I wasn’t suitable for this role, however I was really grateful for the support from the recruitment team suggesting the apprenticeship programme and encouraging me to apply.

What I love the most about my apprenticeship is the opportunity to learn. I am always pushed to my full potential by the training team and my colleagues in branch. I get a chance to do my job and train on the side which means I get the best of both worlds. I have learnt the most about myself. I am more capable of doing things I didn’t think I could do. I have learnt not to be scared of doing things and getting them wrong. Everyone makes mistakes, the most important thing to learn from them.

Training is a great experience to take time out of the branch to learn. It’s an opportunity that we should really be thankful for as a lot of employers make their apprentices do training on the job.

My team are amazing. I have never worked with such amazing people. They are always willing to help me and push me to my full potential. I am now lucky enough to be going on my first educational trip, this is such an exciting opportunity and I can’t wait to experience it!

I can definitely see my future progressing within Hays Travel as there are endless opportunities to learn and develop. My goals are to become a trainer! As soon as I finish my apprenticeship I want to do my rising stars. This way I can learn about management and grow within the company.
