Megan Yarker- My Hays Journey
I joined Hays Travel back in November 2016 and felt a part of the family from the off. During my first week at Hays Travel I went to Sunderland for my incorporate induction to get an insight into the company, learn the internal systems and the values within Hays Travel.
From the minute I walked into the head office in Sunderland, I realised the friendliness and the helpfulness span right from working in the branches to all departments within head office.
After I completed my induction I started at the Halifax branch and I am still here enjoying every minute of it today thanks to all our lovely customers. Having worked for another travel company before, I have to say the training offered within Hays Travel is second to none as it is always thorough and fun!
Outside of work our appreciation is shown by John Hays himself as he throws an annual garden party up at his house in Durham and invites every single member of staff within the company, he hires a band and has free flowing food and refreshments throughout the day.
There is also the annual Hays Travel Christmas party which is also based up in Durham where we are recognised for all our achievements throughout the year. Working for Hays Travel you are a name and not just a number and your efforts never go unnoticed.
The last two years working for Hays Travel have been so amazing and enjoyable, within the company everyone is always encouraged to grow and learn new skills.
Within our branch we love getting involved in community events, we recently held a family fun day in aid of Together for Looked-after Children Calderdale, we held a number of activities such as hook-a-duck, a bake sale, stocks and sponges, name the teddy and a raffle. We managed to raise an amazing amount of £770, which was matched by the Hays Travel foundation.
I am very much looking forward to progressing my career within the company.
