Joe Hardwick - Why I love my apprenticeship
The things that I like about working for Hays Travel are how you really do feel part of the Hays Family rather than just a number. I love the support that we receive from head office, even though they are located in Sunderland they are only a phone call away. The support from our in-house training department has been amazing, especially in regards to all of the training that I have completed as part of my apprenticeship.
Since completing the apprenticeship I have completed the rising stars programme, so again I have been on training that has been more suited to my role, I also like the different events such as the garden party, high flyers and the christmas party. I love the fact we are an independent travel agent meaning that we are able to sell holidays that suit our customers along with the freedom to sell who we want.
The apprenticeship scheme has taught me everything I know in travel to be honest, everything from worldwide geography, supplier training days. I have been on many courses such as 5 steps to selling, customer service, continue and begin etc
I have won the Hays Travel apprentice of the year in December 2016 which was my first full year of selling, I was then a finalist in the TTG Awards in July 2017, Young Travel Agent of the Year and then in the Travel Weekly Awards 2018 Young Leisure Agent of the Year.
I love how we are one big family, the garden party is great as I love being able to mix with people from different branches, it is a great Sunday afternoon spent, the high flyer along with the Christmas party, although it is only a few hours it is lovely to spend the time with everyone to catch up.
